The Design O'Blog : Quick Tip: How To Make A Linen Texture In Photoshop

Remember when the brushed steel trick was all the rage? ;) My recent post I Designed the Grand View Site!

The Design O'Blog : Let's Get Back To Sketching

I almost always do at least one sketch just because it's easier to work from a wireframe than try to keep a layout in my head while i'm designing. For a site design i'll do a page or two of sketches, usually. Nothing like the dozens and dozens of sketches we had to do for each project back at the COD. ;) My recent post Why I Want A Big Wedding

The Design O'Blog : A Brief Rant on Typography

In working for a web company, i find myself under tight time restriction with every project. I don't even have time for much research (which is embarrassing to admit), much less typography. With all the different browsers and operating systems (especially now with mobile devices) it's so difficult to control the way typography is displayed on the web. I know it can be done and i'd love to put the time into doing it, but it's just not possible for me. Perhaps i could do more experimenting with my own website. My recent post Why I Want A Big Wedding

The Design O'Blog : Stepping Outside Of My Comfort Zone: Speaking At The Front-End Design Conference

Congrats on the gig! I think i'll leave the speaking to people like you who are more knowledgeable and passionate about design than i am and just keep blogging about nothing in particular for now. :) My recent post The I’s Have It

The Design O'Blog : How To Make Your Business Card Design Stand Out From The Crowd

Nice review. Personally, I tend to think fancy printing techniques are a little hokey. More often than not, they're just used to look cool rather than to support a concept. I'm not much of a print designer anymore, but i find things like beautiful typography and more sustainable printing techniques to be more impressive.

Angie the Anti-Theist : June 28, 1998

"You never see Christians 'slain in the spirit' at the checkout, or else overcome by the Holy Spirit in their cubicle." Thanks for this post. I had just been trying to find a way to argue with the "just open your heart and you'll feel it" conviction. I told someone that if you FIRST believe something, you're sure to THEN experience it, but a story like this paints the picture so vividly.

The Design O'Blog : The Internets Are Fun Again! (Thanks To The iPad)

How do you feel about typing on it? I think that would be the most annoying thing for me if i bought an iPad. I hate trying to type stuff on my iPod Touch - even 140 character tweets.
