I loved this one. Screw the hype, for me, this one actually lived up to it. It may be the first time this has happened.

Oh, Fleur. We did not know you were so awesome. But man, when she comes out with that [paraphrase] "I am beautiful enough for both of us!" line I was totally cheering for her. Yeah, Mrs. Weasley, you were wrong about this one. Now let's move on & let Fleur into our cool kids club.

I think you have to be in the right mood. Ideally you're younger than 10 or have had at least three drinks.

I'm with you on reading slapstick. I mean, I can do okay with the Stooges--sometimes I find them funny--but this just sounds boring and frustratingly stupid to me. Thanks for helping me cross one off my list!

I'm the opposite--I liked The Graveyard Book okay & was okay with Coraline, but I LOVED American Gods and Anansi Boys. Good Omens was also absolutely fantastic. I've never read anything byTerry Pratchett (by himself), though, so maybe I should try him next?

I read this book when I was little called "Little Pilgrim's Progress" which was basically all the same ideas but watered down for 10-year-olds. It rocked. All the "I can check THAT philosophy off my list" points, but none of the boring.

Well don't buy it, get it from the library! Audiobooks are awesome. I listened to this book when I had a REALLY boring job where I could literally do my job while listening to books. It rocked. Well, it sucked, but listening to books rocked.

I'd go see it.

Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell is the most fantastic. That being said, my first experience w/ it was an audiobook, and that was fantastic. And the audiobook is fantastic. You know, in case you need a boost to get back into it.

Also Villette=not worth it, and I'm going to preemptively say the same thing about Wildfell Hall. That cat gif also perfectly expresses how I feel about the DC. In theory, I'm like "everybody loves it!" but then you go to read it and it's like...shouldn't there be a movie version I could watch instead? 'Cause that would rock.

I KNOW. Like seriously, let's use time travel to save the HIPPOGRIFF, but we'll just let evil take over the world. No big. Whatever.

I like your ending better.

Yay for sherlock gifs, because those rock--and yay for sharing your pain & helping all of us poor biddable readers. Personally, if an author has an award, I'm like chalk one up for probably going to be good! But apparently not. Thanks a lot, mystery writers.

Now I'm off to google "yegg." 'Cause all I can think of is, well, eggs, and I don't think that's the most likely definition.
