I completely concur. There are many books whose characters I don't like or prefer, but really appreciate the book. Nabakov's Lolita is a great example. I guess with this book I felt torn over the public preferential treatment and the Nobel Prize it was awarded.

I LOVED A Walk in the Woods! It was my first Bryson, but I'll definitely be back for more!
