What makes this toy suck is the complete misrepresentation of Twilight Sparkle's personality. You mean to tell me with the time they had to develop this... product for general release, they couldn't at least try to capture an INKLING of Twilight Sparkle's actual personality. No mentions of books, or how it's cool to be the intelligent girl? It's all about the title and her non-show accurate Butterfly wings? For those of you who have little girls in your lives, wouldn't this toy be all the stronger if they actually put effort into capturing.... I don't know..... Twilight Sparkle?
I guess I'm just disappointed that the powers that be couldn't take the time to make this toy really awesome.

2)Like any major change, this one has a lot of people chiming, and rightfully so, because this is the biggest development of the series up to this point. The one Twilight’s narrative has been leading up to since day 1, which leads me into reactions.
3)Of course, there are those against the change are reacting strongly, with a number of these fans doing anything from threatening to rage quit, to attacking some of the creators. The latter makes me shake my head, but overall… the rage has been quite mils. Seriously, compared to Derpygate, The Mass Effect 3 ending scandal and a whole bunch of other fandom rage fests, this one has been quite dignified. Of course, some might cite /mlp, but quite frankly, that board has always acted like this, so this par for the course with them.
4)You know, for all of the teeth gnashing this might cause, the situation is made worse by those who are confronting the teeth gnashers. For as annoying as some of the rage jockeys are getting, the fact that some of you seemingly are getting your kicks by provoking that reaction has made things worse. Remember, hyper-rationality can be a bad thing.
5)I expected a much better coronation dress. I know it looks almost like Rarity’s Gala Dress, but the Gala was nowhere near as big as this is. Maybe DHX and Hasbro should’ve consulted a fashion designer. Don Draper would make someone burn that outfit to excise it from memory.
Beyond those points, I’m mostly in the wait and see category. For starters, this could be turn out much better than some people are giving it credit for. If Princess Twilight allows for a more serial focused show that takes continuity more seriously, then this is a change I welcome. The World of Generation 4 has so much potential, and if it takes this change to realize it, then it’ll be a good thing. The only condition I would have is that the rest of the main characters don’t become power batteries or accessories to Twilight.
At the same time, I’m not too happy with the obvious marketing push behind this change. Nothing says “Toy Tie-In” like your press release to Entertainment Weekly which happens to be bundled with the new toys coming out to celebrate this event. Even if that infamous Reddit (which may or may not be true, still) post never made the rounds, the obvious executive meddling behind this leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. I give Megan all the credit in the world to spin this in a way that works, but if it is permanent, then there might not be anything that could weave into anything but the obvious
(Also, before you bring up Tank and The Royal Wedding, those product placement episodes involved secondary and tertiary characters whose affect on the series is nowhere near what this is.)
Finally, I can’t help but be concerned at what this could mean for the show. Let’s face it; no matter where you sit on this, the biggest thing to take away from this is that Hasbro has definitely taken more control of the show. Unless this is what I think it might ultimately be, then the question of who is ultimately in charge is the marketing execs, and that could have some potentially scary results. Despite being a fan of Princesses, I couldn’t help but cringe just a little bit at that part of the Press Release. Why? Because I can’t help but think this could be the beginning of the show turning away from everything that made it popular in the first place, and that would be shameful.
In short, let’s hope the best case scenarios are fulfilled. The worst ones just suck to even think about.
