I was doing yoga every other day but fell out of the habit. Today, my shoulders reminded me they miss it so I'm getting back to it today.

I have been forced to cut back on training due to overtraining symptoms SETTING in. I also was sidelined for about a week after my first half marathon last year ITBand). the pain kept me from running after the half (although I tried) and with the overtraining, I KNEW if I didn't slow down, my body would stop me so I chose to slow down. Fortunately, symptoms fade as quickly as they set in. Stay Strong.

IT works! You have to change the newspaper frequently but they'll be dry probably by tonight. And no wet, funky shoe smell either

At first they rolled their eyes but the finisher shirt says 26.2 miles and that's when eyebrows shot up & people started treating a little bit different.

Jenna, she really is my biggest cheerleader! Also, DON'T tell her we're going running and then blow it off! She calls it Mommy Running and will NOT let me forget a training session.

I did my first marathon November 20, 2011. I was trained for it (I had spent 6 MONTHS training) and I felt ready. I even took the optional detour making it 26.5 miles. I don't know if your marathon will offer it; but the one I did had GU at every 2 miles starting at 8 and I grabbed them and stuck them in a pocket on my running skirt, even if I didn't feel like I needed them. I also took Gator-Ade at every stop instead of water. I felt like I was going to need it just to make the distance. Most of all, I had fun. We had special bibs stating it was our first marathon so we were all easy to spot. I walked when I needed, ran when I could and NEVER stopped (OK, I stopped once when traffic control stopped doing their job). I also have IT band issues from my first half (I over-trained for that one) but it stopped bothering me about 10 miles in. My time wasn't great but I can still proudly say I am a marathoner! Good Luck to you!

I have actually blogged about the same issue a few times. I have had people tell me that with the amount of "training" I do (I DESPISE the word "exercise" or "working-out"), I'm going to injure myself and "who'll take care of my daughter then?" I've also been unfriended/followed on social media because I post too much about my training or fitness in general. Two days ago at work, I was told no one's ever come out to my races to cheer me on "because no one cares". I feel sometimes as if I'm outcast or ostracized because I'm NOT an alcoholic, smoker, or drug addict. My training IS my drug and FEW understand that. THANK YOU for the great post. I'm definitely going to share it.
