I agree so much! I love this series and the cast of the audiobook, but this one did not reach the heights of the first two. Everyone I cared about was basically gone, and the part about the Ekt world (not sure of spelling because I only read via audio) is poorly explored. There were lots of concepts and ideas that he wanted to convey but it fell short. Oh well, I still digged Vincent and Eva's father-daughter relationship though. I legit teared up in the street when I listened to the letter at the end.

Yesss I have very similar thoughts on the book. I did enjoy Lysander's chapters because they showed us The Rim, but I could not stand the excuses he made for what was essentially Gold supremacy. Loved Lydia's chapters and how complex her characterisation is. I love seeing the old gang again but I am SCARED for what will happen to them all in Dark Age!

I can't contain myself when it comes to Strange the Dreamer, it pretty much surpassed every single expectation and is so well worth the wait. Pretty sure it will be my favourite book this year XD

This sounds so precious and adorable, I must own it immediately. There's something about friendship that transcends age gaps and other societal barriers that warms my heart. Oz YA is kicking ass and taking names when it comes to social issues, I am so proud.

Dark fantasy are my jam so I love the sound of this book, the title alone has me swooning. I actually enjoy fantasy books that gets a while to get going, as long as I get character development and plot payoff in exchange. We never get to dwell on the more quiet moments in fantasy. I am glad you enjoyed the book despite its flaws!

Congratulations on one year of coblogging to my favourite trio in the business! It's been so wonderful to watch your friendship blossom over the course of this year, and I could not think of cobloggers with more amazing chemistry :D I hope you'll all get a chance to meet one another by the end of the next year (and come meet me as well, OK!) I love you all so much, here's to many more years of blogging and happiness together!!

The Dead House was a great read, I love the epistolary format of it. I had no idea that Creeper Man and And The Trees Crept In were the same book though! I am a crap blogger, apparently. I think I like the cover for The Creeper Man more, it's so atmospheric and chilling. Not sure if I will get around to actually reading many horror books this Halloween-- but I might try at a couple of short stories.

I really loved this book, especially the footnotes -it really reminded me of Discworld. I also took a while reading this book, the writing style did get some getting use to. I am glad to hear you enjoyed it!

Thank you for the balanced review. This has been sitting neglected on my shelf for a little while now because it's just so thick (I now, horrible excuse). I also can't decide which POV to start with, but after reading your review I might do the same and alternate between the two MCs. I am glad to hear that it's at least a fast paced book, and I will take a dose of whatever reminds me of Stranger Things right now!
