changed to obscene

Thanks! It was a fun podcast to do..

I was killed a bit for going soft on Minihane here. Rightfully so in some cases. Though, I don't count the Edwards thing as one of those said cases. It was hard to go after a guy who was accountable for his faults -- he was equally critical on Gresh for showing none of that responsibility in the Ells case...

I think anytime you're in the media you come off as a bit stand-off-ish and condescending. That's the case with Minihane both as a writer and when he fills in on air. But he HAS to establish the authoritative tone so maybe, by nature, he sounds unlike himself. Bottom line is I too found myself feeling a lot different about him after talking to him both on the podcast & off the air. Likable dude.

Re Podcast: We're actually in the process of completely revamping the format of the podcast, giving the show a new feel and its own page. The former version was to sporadic (which is in part why I suck as a host sometimes, almost like Rask not getting consistent starts). Should be up and running within the month and obviously they'll still be guests and the like.

haha (on the Buck stuff)! Bruce linked the BGlobe piece a few hours ago, didn't want to seem redundant (but it was well done).

You will love this doc, considering your ties. Somerset gets some love (His wife Heather grew up there). And you're right, no one knew the severity. I don't want to sound like the hype machine (and tried to stay objective about this film), but thinking back to it a day later, I wouldn't stop short of calling it appointment television --- No baseball next week, basketball is locked out: Bruins is all we have during the week.

Put simply, It was really well done.

I actually was going to look this up (bad job by me)..I have a feeling there will be some editing for the televised version. Good point though.

you're absolutely right, Paul. That was my MAIN point, I'm rallying the troops with my manufactured outrage to get NESN to change their name.

Be right back, I gotta catch the new episode of "Schooled."

For the record: I didn't expect NESN to carry it live (though that would have been fine too) but give me something...anything

Paul, you are completely overlooking the point of the column.

You seem focused on the fact that the Cubs are not a Boston team so why would NESN cover the presser?

'New England Sports Network' - does that name give the pretense that the station covers news revolving New England sports teams? Or am I off base?

Look, NESN doesn't want to cover the presser live? Fine. NESN doesn't want to have any coverage after-the-fact? Fine, too.

But the point is -- the station is not a Boston sports network then. They don't serve the community of fans. This was a Boston sports news story, was it not? AND THERE WAS NO COVERAGE..

(Please, I'm begging you, tell me otherwise! It was only relevant to Chicago, right? haha)

NESN is a Red Sox-centric station that disseminates information pertinent to that entities agenda (and that entity alone). Rename it RBS (Red Sox Broadcasting Station) then. Or leave it at NESN. I don't really care, but the bottom line is that this was a TELLING moment that NESN is not an objective or viable sports news gathering organization. A real 'Sports Network' would have covered this.

Umm, I said how I liked "The Big Show" yesterday and thought their approach recently has been less jarring and over-the-top as "Felger and Mazz".

Then I lauded a column by Gerry Callahan..

Of course, I did quip how I wish "Planet Mikey" was off-air, but if you have a problem with that then we simply disagree. I also went after Bradford's column, but that's just an opinion. I think he is generally a good writer.

Two critiques and Two pros? Feels balanced to me..

I like 'EEI when they stick to sports, and I actually really liked Minihane on with Mut today.

fair enough haha. May have slipped the analogy in there because my GF was watching it while I was working on this.
