He started off okay, but he was always pushing people to do more. And ambitious as fuck. Again, it's not always bad, but I thought I could work with him. 1. Stole my ideas and took credit for them especially in front of the big bosses. I still have the emails I sent him, but I don't have the oppo to burn his ass with them. 2. Insecure as fuck. When he found out I was actually smart and an experienced engineer/former supervisor, he started finding anything to put me down. Which unfortunately led to 3. When I started having problems with The Idiot and her cocaine/mental freak outs caused me to take days off, he started slamming me with warning letters to the point where I ended up getting suspended because I was three hours late. He took great glee with that especially the week after I had bail out on an interview that would have put me on an equal footing with him. Lied to me that it was HR and his manager that wanted to slam me with these warnings/suspension. I found out later when the HR guy inadvertently spilled the beans. Made me so toxic that I'm probably permanently blacklisted for promotion. 4. The product line I was working on was going to a 24X7 (continental shift) work sched which I didn't want to do. He asked me if I was going to stay. At this point, our relationship was going downhill so I glared at him and said rudely, "No." He berated me for not being a good company man (fuck him.) Next week I found out he was not staying either for "family" reasons. He got promoted to manager of another dept and the workers on my shift gave him a card. I was the only one who didn't sign it. I thought about writing "I hope you get what you deserve" but I decided not to. At one point, I was so furious with him that I nearly marched into his office armed with a piece of equipment with the intent to beat the living shit/fuck out of him. Only the impassioned pleas of my coworkers kept me from doing so. Bully doesn't rate high because he's stupid and I took care of him (and his cronies) in such a manner that he's probably not long for his current position (probably won't get fired though, just reassigned.) She had been a coworker who was promoted. I thought that was great - I liked her a lot and thought it would be terrific to work for such a good project manager. What a mistake. She was so insecure that the first thing she did was piss off her ENTIRE team. Then, the day after my dad had a stroke, he she assigned me a very involved project. I asked her to please reassign the project and give me something less involved, since I had to take care of my Dad's medical issues. Her first response was "how long is this going to take?" I asked her if she was asking me how long it would be until my Dad died. Her response? "Well I have a schedule you know..." Her response to my asking for a less detail-oriented project was " are you refusing to do your job?" It got worse from there. I was not her only victim. One guy went out to lunch and never came back. When contacted, he said he'd rather live in a box on the street than work for her. Another guy collapsed at his desk after being made to work for every single day (including weekends) for 3 months without a day off. She did her level best to make my life a living hell. So much so, that I had a heart attack from the stress. The worst part? I was laid off when I got back from my disability leave (after 10+ years of great reviews by all bosses and coworkers) but she's still there. Needless to say, if she was on fire, I'd toast marshmallows. Called her once by her first name, when customers were present, she completely ignored me, pretending she hadn't heard me. Bitch. She and her brow-beaten kids and husband were Above All Others in her mind, to an absurd degree. The teen daughter was a mess, the middle kid was trying hard, the oldest boy knew what was what and had managed to rise above it all. Her husband was a sweetie. Two freelance jobs. Worst: the employer that went from flirting with me to cursing me out and pounding the door and the wall and spittle-flecked ranting. He was a chronic pain sufferer. I sometimes did bank stuff for him, and I'd set him off by withdrawing the wrong amount of money for him to pay his weed dealer (but I'd withdrawn a full 1000 and then put some of it back--so I couldn't start over until 24 hours later). Flirting by negging (he was this hideously condescending, manipulative man who would alternate between insults and lascivious praise....so, insincere and unhinged) was bad; being in his apartment when I had reason to believe he was going to punch me and him blocking the door was worse. If I had been less stupid and he had been less mean..appealing to well-off potheads is something that might have been nice to cultivate as a monetizable skill. And he turned on a dime, finished screaming to high heaven about members of "my generation", and women, and me, and let me go smiling. He still owes me for the hours I worked that week, but obviously, I never went back. The other bad boss was this gorgeous, self-involved, horrid woman. You know how some people actually speak while burping, as if it's a yawn? She'd belch "UGHHHHHHHH" and punctuate her rage burps with angry sighs. If she'd had any more contempt for me when she was in one of those moods, she would have squatted at my face level when I was sitting at the computer and broken wind.
