John Lesko

For all ... Steve Davis recently sent me a note about how my post could have been perceived as a "commercial" or ad for the Mid-Atlantic Facilitators Network ... I hope others don't think so.

That said, it seems that being mindful of our role as facilitators is on the minds of many w/in our community. Steve writes eloquently about the power of being present. At the last MAFN workshop we discussed what it meant to be BOMMI. A graphic summary of our workshop is found at this URL:
http://johnleskodotbiz.wordpress.com/2012/03/25/e...
The B in BOMMI stands for BE present. I hope that clarifies things for all who frequent this blog. I, for one, try to read every Facilitation U article and encourage my peers to do so too. Let's continue to share our work and share links to our thinking. And KUDOS for Steve Davis for facilitation this exchange.

Michael Bischoff

I appreciate how accessible and practical you made this, and how you connected it to facilitation. My work focuses on integrating spiritual practices and principles into facilitation and consulting with organizations (http://spiritofinstitutions.blogspot.com). I found you through your article in the Neuland email newsletter, which I also thought was great. Thank you!

Patricia Clason

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) research tells us that we misinterpret others' emotions almost 90% of the time. I fully believe from my observations over the last 30 years that one reason this is true is that people are not present in the moment, alert and aware. So leaders miss so many of the cues that could guide them to more effective relationships, communication and results.

Thanks for your lesson on breathing! Breathing is EQ's number one tool precisely because it brings us to the present and shifts the chemicals/emotions in the body. We are much more available when grounded and present.
