I loved Opie but Ron Howard the director BLOWS. I understand your Bateman situation. He is a decent actor and all, but there are just a few things that are starting to bug me...and, well, I'm bugged by a lot in moving pictures, so there's that. I feel a wee bit of arrogance from him; that no-nonsense-sane-fellow schtick; it's overdone now...I can't quite put my finger on it...but HE'S NOT A BAD ACTOR and he was great in AD, fo sure. DON'T BE MAD AT ME.

Oh god, I didn't even consider Opie/Richie as director. That would be a big 'no' for me too. I did get the feeling from the AD DVD extras that Ron Howard has a hell of a lot of respect for Hurwitz, though, and wouldn't try to make the movie his own. But you TAKE THAT BACK about Jason Bateman, dammit.

I'm sort of feeling that way about Bateman...but that could mostly be because he had a role in Juno, one of the most ill-conceived (ha!) and irritating movies of all time. Never forget. And there's no risk of Ron Howard directing this thing, right? Cuz that would be a no for me.

I can't imagine this ending well. I have not seen the show yet (getting 'round to it) but am fully aware that it has THE MOST INTENSE FOLLOWING EVER. Expectations seem as if they are too high to be filled. Don't outstay your welcome.

The only bad thing I can think of about this is that at this point I find Michael Cera more annoying than charming. I'll just try to pretend it's 2003 again. On the plus side, Maeby is now legal.
