Update to 3.0 through ituns for free, jailbreak with redsn0w, and when ultrasn0w comes out, download it through cydia.

Download the 3.0 firmware from iclarified or some other source, shift+click to restore, then browse to that firmware. Then once it's done restoring jailbreak it using redsn0w
