<description>Huntsman&amp;#039;s &amp;quot;strategy&amp;quot; of pretending to be the sane one in a field of lunatics is likely to place him dead last in fundraising. The &amp;quot;centrists&amp;quot; will vote for Obama and Perry and Bachmann will duke it out for the nominations. I&amp;#039;m guessing Bachmann will take the Iowa caucuses, Romney will take New Hampshire if he hasn&amp;#039;t run out of money, and Perry will take the nomination.  I like Huntsman but he&amp;#039;s going to lose. He&amp;#039;ll probably have to drop out before the end of the year. It&amp;#039;s about fundraising, and Perry has a clear advantage. </description>

<description>S&amp;amp;P is a *business* ... it *sells* its opinions to anyone who is a qualified buyer. You can think of their downgrade as &amp;quot;content marketing&amp;quot; - a &amp;quot;white paper&amp;quot; designed to bring traffic to their web site and into their sales funnel.  What&amp;#039;s worse is that S&amp;amp;P did not do any original work or analysis. They simply are taking the more or less unbiased efforts of the Congressional Budget Office and warping *their* hard work in the service of the people who pay their salaries into a propaganda piece. It sucks even worse than you say it does when you look at it that way. </description>

They may not lose any battles in the USA, but it&amp;#039;s a cost and a drain on their growth.  Google is going to have to make some hard strategic choices. That means *killing* non-performing projects and *firing* people. They seem reluctant to do that. </description>

<description>I understand why the developers are upset - they&amp;#039;re absolutely right about not wanting the API vibrating under their feet while they&amp;#039;re trying to serve their customers. But I&amp;#039;m more interested in the changes to search itself as perceived by the two classes of search users - seekers and sellers. The monitoring services *should* be migrating to Streaming. The ones with established business partnerships with Twitter have for the most part already migrated, and I wouldn&amp;#039;t expect them to be vocal on the open Google Group if they hadn&amp;#039;t.  So what&amp;#039;s your opinion as a *user* of Twitter Search? I agree - they do need to define &amp;quot;popularity&amp;quot;, but I&amp;#039;m not a heavy Search user. The only two major use cases I have for Search are for gathering historical data about an event. I&amp;#039;m not sure how the changes are going to affect those cases - I think my code will simply ignore new key-value pairs in the returned objects, so the code will only break if key-value pairs that I am using disappear. </description>
