/Film : Rian Johnson Releases MP3 Audio Commentary for The Brothers Bloom

Now that would drive more people to theaters! Imagine theaters having those portable audio devices like in museums with several audio commentaries and people would be able to see the movie with it. That would make people going to see the movie more than once!

/Film : Free Monty Python Videos on Youtube Lead to 23,000% DVD Sale Increase

This kind of strategy works with quality content and relatively unknown artists ( as I believe Monty Python are in the US). The problem with RIAA and MPAA is that they represent the all industry. And the things that are selling in the traditional media is mostly crap. If Monty Python weren't really genius they weren't selling so much. I love Will Smith movies and I loved The Fresh Prince of Bel-air, but I bet that if the show would be available for free in youtube the sales wouldn't rise nearly that much.
