In the 1960s, strategic philosopher Herman Kahn wrote in one of his books (I'm not sure which one) that, since nuclear war is essentially not winnable, negotiations between nations holding nuclear weapons must be very vigorous. But, he cautioned, that negotiations are only feasible when the parties may be trusted somewhat to be 'reasonable.' It is a different matter altogether when one (or more) of the parties is not reasonable at all. Such is North Korea. It must be crushed.

If the government really wanted to prevent these leaks, most would have been prevented. If the government really wants Assange in custody, he would be in custody...or, under 'clear' surveillance (shadowed openly to convey that he is being shadowed). These matters are not taken lightly by intelligence agencies anywhere, except when some leaks are not really leaks but plants (an excellent way to disrupt credibility). Obfuscation is a powerful counter intelligence measure.
