CBER!!!!! Those horses might have gone from the frying pan to the fire! Columbia Basin Equine Rescue is the same group that is being blasted all over the internet for such alleged practices as sending slaughterbound horses that people donated money for to buy out of a Yakima feedlot -- back to the same feedlot to "trade them in" for more "adopable" horses-- these original "rescued"horses were then subsequently shipped to slaughter.
The former president Sam Milebreant (SP) also required that adopters or sponsors pay for a 30-day quarantine period -- at a farm owned by her family-- at a cost $300 for horses they paid to buy from the feedlot. Sponsors/ adopters were led to believe that this quarantine period was required by Washington state law or regulations-- which was not the case. This quarantine period was required by CBER, of which Sam as then prexsident.
Also, there have been allegations that horses under CBER's care have been sent to foster homes or adopters such as Dean Solomon who was recently charged with animal neglect herself. Ms. Solomon ran a facility called Pacific Equine Center.
