Film School Rejects : Discuss: Is Pixar Sexist?

The thing to keep in mind is that Hollywood (and TV for that matter) have always relied on stereotypes to help tell their stories. It is simply a necessity so that people can further connect to the personalities of the characters without having to tell their entire back story just for it to make sense. On this point, this practically demands (even though it is not always the case and certainly not the case when talking about the main role since you need background anyway) for the "hero" of the story to be male. I'm not trying to be sexist but when people regularly think hero they think strong (physically and mentally), smart, and can do things on their own, which is normally embodied by a male role. And while the main character doesn't need to fill this mold, if you break it for them then you need to break it for the supporting roles as well (otherwise you get characters that could easily replace the main role or otherwise they just do not fit the story), which eventually requires you to make back stories for everyone else too, which is difficult to fit into one movie. Movies have always been centered on bringing characters together that are all different from each other and having them unite to make a well-rounded group.

Film School Rejects : Dakota Fanning Officially Joins the Twilight Saga

Im willing to bet the studio is smart enough to realize that unless they scrap the next movies all together they wont recast her. I'm not saying her acting is so spectacular, but she has a big enough name that they are probably ready to pay her now in order to have her for later. Otherwise it would be easier to just get some random person to play the small Jane role and then getter bigger name talent for the big roles (like they did with Pyro in X2 (definately not the same guy who played pyro in the first one, check it out if you don't believe me, hen again he had no line in the first one two, I never read the twiligh books so maybe its a little bit different in this case).

Film School Rejects : Eliza Dushku Wants Black Widow Role in Iron Man 2

If the contract on Gulliver's travels thing is true that's too bad, but I don't see how she wouldn't have thought about that. She probably has some way to work around that issue. Either way, she could definitely be good choice, even if this movie does deserve absolute top-of-the-line actors (which it obviously isn't going to get). She would probably work for a decent price and I don;t care what others say, she's actually a good actress too... maybe not the greatest history of movies but still a solid actress.

Film School Rejects : Extended Clip from Cage\'s Knowing

He's on the other train? The one about to be hit? That's probably the best answer I can give.... but even then, why not just stop the other train before it leaves? Also, is this supposed to be some kind of conspiracy because what was all that crap about running when he saw the black van? That must be the only possible situation, right?

Film School Rejects : Biggest Comedic Talent of 1994 to Appear in Film Together

As long as they dont try to make some "Family Friendly" movie like Click, then this could easily be the best movie since Happy Gilmore....which says a lot right there. I'm hoping and praying that this is the case because I've been dying for an outrageously funny (not in any way serious) movie by Sandler for years. Not to bash Big Daddy or some of his other movies but I miss the craziness of Gilmore and Madison.

Film School Rejects : Electrocute Yourself On New \'Crank 2\' Posters and Stills

The first had quite possibly the most ridiculous plot I have ever head of, even though it did have some amazing action sequences. I only ask that they at least make the plot a little more believable in the ending (aka he doesn't fall a few thousand feet from a helicopter and lives even though he fell directly on concrete)

Film School Rejects : Fans Move That The Joker Be Retired in Honor of Heath Ledger

I can't say they should retire the joker forever, but at the very least retire him from this franchise. To re-cast the joker in this specific series would just be a complete fiasco for the movie and would just make the next one a disappointment. Instead, here is my idea to avoid the whole situation and to create a new plot line to use as you will. Batman is now the "Bad-Guy" of Gotham, so Gotham decides to put a reward out for him (Gordon has no choice because he is now under pressure to catch Batman). This brings in tons of bounty hunters including Floyd Lawton (aka Deadshot). But when the two first meet, Batman outwits him. Meanwhile, Catwoman is now in Gotham and the love interest begins. Because Deadshot is so angry at Batman for besting him, he decides to go on a rampage for revenge, not stopping for anything, or anyone, in his way. He then discovers the love interest between Batman and Catwoman and tries to get to Catwoman in order to get to Batman. Chaos is created with a body count that only a psychotic bounty hunter with no morals could create. Massive fight scene. The End. (Or something like that) Not only does this deal (or at least postpone) the Joker situation, it brings in a relatively unknown and well-known character to the Dark Knight Series.

Film School Rejects : Sofia Vergara Sexes Up \'Smokin\' Aces\' Prequel

I honestly had no problems with the original, although the acting was not amazing it is actually a pretty solid "sit down and enjoy lots of action" type movie. My only question is what the hell is the plot for this going to be? Is it even possible that they can relate this to the original?
