I'm not sure these two would be a very good influence on the sick children. Maybe they should stick to the bed pans.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Driving pet peeves: Merging, make-up and more | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | Local

I agree in theory, but in practice sometimes if the person stops at that yield sign they may never be able to get up to merging speed because the lane they are given to do it in is too short. There are a lot of other states where there are no yield signs on the freeway and the cars in the right lane are required to allow them in. In the long run, that may be safer because you end up with two cars who have an interest in working it out instead of just one. But yeah, in general, if it says yield then that's what they should do. I see this every day going through the tunnel downtown. There's a yield sign but cars just fling themselves into the oncoming traffic and if you aren't expecting it you could very easily hit someone. If I'm stuck in that lane at the entrance to the tunnel I almost always have to slow way down for someone pulling out in front of me. And in that case, they should be stopping because the speed limit is so low and they could easily wait their turn.

That is exaclty the kind of rude driving that I hate. I will be courteous and make room if someone puts on their turn signal and needs to get over. I try to get out of the way when people obviously want to pass me. I always stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk. I try not to annoy other drivers. But I don't let people pass me when I'm stopped in traffic and then they go by the line and try to cut in. You aren't special despite what your mommy may tell you. You don't deserve to go to the front of the line just because you want to. Even my 6 year old nephew knows that.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Starbucks to close 300 more stores | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | News

It's 200 in the US and 100 international. It's about the location. Maybe they close 5 in WA and open 3 in Florida or something. It's more about the local market than the total numbers. I imagine areas that are being hit hard by home foreclosures are not spending a lot of money on coffee right now, but some parts of the country may still have room for expansion.

And I'm pretty sure they already have numbers by their meals on the menu. It's a perfect fit.

Do you have any data to support that? All I ever hear about are the schools and medical clinics that Starbucks is opening in the communities where the coffee is picked. Also, you have to put some context to that. If other jobs in the area pay one cent a day and the cost of living is very low, then 5 cents is pretty darn good. Let's see some facts.

That never made any sense to me. Do these people think that any of the 100,000+ North American Starbucks employees have any say in what Howard does with his personal life? That's ridiculous. We're the ones being hurt by slow sales.

I looked up that code noted on the back of the bus when I first moved to Seattle. It says they have the right of way to merge back into the traffic after picking up or dropping off passengers. It doesn't say anything about changing lanes or about having the right of way all the time. I think some of the worst bus drivers are the ones whose sign says Transit meantng they are going back to the base. They don't even have passengers and they think they own the road.

he he. I wasn't going to say anything but that's true. I also like it when people complain about Starbucks and say how SBC is so much better. We've owned them for years. I just smile and nod.

Exactly. For some reason my response to that comment won't post, but you are absolutely right. Starbucks actually pays fairly low compared to similar jobs at other companies. The Bean Stock is supposed to make up for it. Ha!

Part of the reason Starbucks went to the auto machines was because of the number of carpel tunnel injuries the baristas were getting using the manual ones. But I agree there is no artistry to it.

Have you been to the corporate building? I don't consider a Taco del Mar and place that sells pizza to be fancy restaurants. I guess I'm stuck up.
