Place of Stuff : A Society With Arms

Genius response. Except that in all of your examples, those items are multi-use: sex is not just a potential way to die, it is also good for recreation and procreation. Music is recreational and creative and inspiring. And so on.

A gun has one use: to kill someone.

This is true. What they should do is invent a gun that fires both forwards and backwards at the same time. So that anyone who fires the gun will think twice before doing so.

Place of Stuff : UK Voting

Not entirely sure I know what you mean. There is no requirement to vote in the UK, so you don\\\'t have to vote if you don\\\'t want to - and could have chosen to vote for either the council member or the AV or do both.

Place of Stuff : UK Voting

FPtP is one of those weird situations where it benefits politicians more than the people. Getting in on a majority vote should be a no-brainer, but because of low voting turnouts we end up with the \\\"majority\\\" merely being a significant minority. AV goes some way to redressing the balance and, who knows, maybe we\\\'ll go to Proportional Representation one day!

Atheist Revolution : First Impressions of the Kindle 3

Bugger. Your post is almost word for word the post I'd write on my site. What you didn't add, as you probably haven't realised, is that the battery life is awesome: I charged it on the day I got it and the battery indicator is just now showing a depletion - battery life is around 30 days!! Also, if you leave it on standby you get some lovely screensavers. The fact it's lightweight and has forward and back buttons on both sides makes it ideal for reading one handed on public transport and the light weight means that you don't get any strain in your hand. I find it easier than reading a dead tree book - turning pages is a damn sight easier with it :) Right, off to look at these free books of yours.... My recent post The Bible – On The Waterfront

If they could do that, they wouldn't be so screwed. Maybe they should go those people with money and an interest in keeping them going. What are they called? That's right, "shareholders". Isn't that their job?

If the MSM was viable, they would not have an issue with the internet. They can fuck right off - we do not need the State (via my pocket) propping up bad businesses. If there are problems, the owners should step in and fix them.

And another thing... : Do as Ipsa says, not as Ipsa does

Surely any suitably qualified Board and Chair candidates wouldn't need to have their travel reimbursed since they would have come from well paying jobs anyway? And what of the lower ranks? Would they be expected to be unemployed and make use of the Travel to Interview Scheme offered via the JobCentre? While I agree with the idea of IPSA, it seems that the entire department was scribbled up on the back of a fag packet.
