I read this afternoon, authorities called in men on horseback to round up the 3-7 cows loose somewhere between Hwy. 29 & I-85. Hope they're able to do it, before...like you say, carolinamom, they wander on the insterstate & cause another wreck! I couldn't even begin to guess how much damage & bodily harm that could cause. My hat's off to any of these guys who took their time to round up these cows! And, my deepest sympathy to the family of the truck driver who lost his life.

Didn't feel like you were disagreeing at all. I appreciated you kindly pointing out that fact in the article to me that I missed! If there was a newspaper that published only word for word transcripts of Rowan County court cases daily, I would certainly subscribe! I find that interesting, much more than a newspaper's summary of what they heard in court.

Oops, Bonez, I missed that! I previously had a brief lesson in latent fingerprints, and am not very well versed...but they're also sometimes difficult to detect on plastic, multicolored backgrounds, fibrous papers and textiles, wood, leather, adhesives and human skin.

I know the article states a chrome-bladed knife. If that knife had a wooden handle, fingerprints are difficult to lift from wood. Also, could have been smudged or wet prints making them even more difficult to identify.

Sorry, VOAP, I used the wrong terminology when I said upgrade. I understand, it is just to relieve overcrowding. Agreed, there are ways expenses could be cut!

I'm totally with you VOAP! I know it might be state mandated that we upgrade our jail, but...please....cable tv & gyms to name a few (ridiculous that they should be provided such amenities). Many head of households are struggling just to provide food, water, shelter, and health care. A lot of people work all they can, with no hand outs, and do not commit crimes to provide for their families and they have to do without these extra amenities. Ones who are guilty of crimes and jailed deserve absolutely no more than that.

I did, teach in public school...what a joke!!!!! My child did go to private school and later charter. All the time ... paid those taxes to send to our public schools. Wish we had some levy (public vouchers) to pay for my child's education (I deserved it because I paid my taxes)!!!

Thank you! You took words right from my mouth. I'm one of those who got the *h*t beat out of them, with whelps, bruises, and one time stitches....didn't learn a da*n thing except I was devastated to think somehow they actually "loved" me when they did this, but I didn't feel that. Always learned to hide what I could from them because they were "evil" to beat me in that manner. Never consulted them when I needed guidance. I was never a "bad" child....got good grades in school, never caused problems....but my so called parents "beaters" never appreciated me (took their troubles out on me). It was never enough. I have a child today, in college, a productive member of society and contributes to charitable causes. My child was never spanked (minus the few times to the hand or thigh was popped as a toddler). Priviledges were taken away, long sermons, times in the corner ... and we are okay. College is good, respect is shown, Love is shown, and I thank my God! Not for everyone, but this subject is not an black/white situation...lots of grey areas!!!

Better than just letting you know, I'd like to see the video of anyone enjoying that scrumptious green persimmon!

I'm truly not sure, but I think there's a difference between a life sentence and a sentence to life without the possiblity of parole. I'm not sure what her maximum sentence could be for this crime if the infant lives (and I pray she does). All I know is there are a lot of Mom's in prison who miss their children and may give Sandra her justice when she gets there!
