Google Android Blog : Sprint and HTC confirm Android 2.0 update for HTC Hero and Samsung Moment

You technically have to get Eclair, considering the Sprint Hero is your Hero, just in a different body. HTC can't update the Sense UI on that device, and not yours. The trouble is, we have no idea when it could happen, and HTC isn't telling anyone.

HTC can see it as competing with the DROID running 2.0, because the HTC Hero already has most of the features packed into 2.0. The trouble is that 1.5 doesn't seem to be the benchmark that it used to be, as Google updates its services for 1.6+, leaving 1.5 devices in the dust.

That's the trouble. The fact that @htc hasn't said anything regarding the unlocked Hero's update is unsettling to say the least. It's even worse, knowing that the Moment, a phone not even manufactured by HTC, is getting the 2.0 update. So, this must have been a deal between Google and Sprint. But, we'll have to wait and see. Hopefully before June of next year.

Google Android Blog : Motorola DROID Android 2.0.1 update is on a roll

That is definitely one of the situations with having an all touchscreen device, with no relevant hardware keys. While there are phones out there that can handle this very well, I'm still one of those people who would prefer to have a hardware 'answer' and 'end' option. Just so much easier that way.

Google Android Blog : Acer Liquid A1 passes through FCC, comes out with AT&T 3G for the trouble

You're right about AT&T needing to start looking at other devices than the iPhone. Their focus on the device has, more or less, ruined their focus on the network, as well as other reliable, and good devices. The sheer fact that they have completely dismissed Android altogether is a troubling sign.

Good question, Dominick. Refunds aren't affected by the additional payment method. Refunds are still handled within the first 24 hours. If you purchase an app, you can get it refunded without hassle within 24 hours. They don't make a charge on your account, or credit card, until that 24 hour mark.

Google Android Blog : Samsung Galaxy goes up for sale in Canada via Bell

You have a Jet? When Samsung announced that phone over the summer, I was giving it some serious thought regarding a purchase. I'm a fan of TouchWiz 2.0, so that's not necessarily a turn off for me, but there were a few issues I had. One, Samsung basically released the phone as a beta product, and used the population at large as testers. I didn't really enjoy that at all. But, that 800 MHz processor is amazing, isn't it?

Google Android Blog : Over-the-air update for the HTC Droid Eris now in the roll-out process

The Droid Eris is anything like the DROID update wise, then you will receive a pop=up message on your phone indicating that an update is available. At that point, you'll just follow the on-screen instructions. If not, then you'll want to head into the Settings option, go down to 'About Phone', and then look for 'System Update'. if it's not there (because I'm going off my HTC Hero, and there are other menu changes in the Eris, so it could be different), then it could be under 'Security'.

Considering you're experience, Verizon could probably start rolling out commercials about how easy it is to upgrade the DROID, too. "So easy, you can do it in your sleep!" kind of thing. It's good to hear that you are liking the experience even more. As I've said before, I didn't think I was going to be a fan of the new unlock screen, but I really am. It's nice and simple, and different from the rest of the unlock screens out there. Not that it wasn't before, I just don't need to be reminded of an old rotary phone every time I unlock my DROID.

When I saw images of the new lock screen, I didn't think I'd like it much. But after playing with it for a few minutes, I really do like it. Shows a bit more in advancement, in my eyes. I haven't had the device lock up on me yet, thankfully, and I'm sorry you're having that situation. Does it happen only when you are trying to text message someone? If it keeps happening, perhaps you should try pulling the battery from the phone while it is still turned on. This is a hard reset, and it usually helps.

And let me also note that, while a large part of me here believes the Bravo could be the Passion, I'm just not ready to forget those leaked images. Nor the leaked specs. Yeah, they were personal pictures and nothing close to official releases from HTC, but they were still there. And then there's David from Tmo News, and the ninja who told him about code name "Passion". We know that the Passion and Dragon exist, maybe as two different devices or one, via the leaked ROM 2.1. It's out there somewhere. But, I still want the Bravo.

The Bravo, and every other phone shown off in that brochure, is not optimized for T-Mobile USA's 3G network. It's possible, of course, that HTC makes a derivative of the Bravo (or the Salsa, or the Legend) and makes it for the US, but we'll just have to cross our fingers for that one.
