The FN Dish : FoodNetwork.com Exclusive: Aarti Party Renewed for Second Season

Aarti Love your enthusiasm and show!!! Don't let the negative comments get in your way...those people just need to get a life! I've stayed away from Indian cooking as there seems to be too many ingredients in many of the recipes. However, I have tried making Butter Chicken. While in Amsterdam my husband and I ate at an Indian restuarant and had this dish for the first time. It was so amazingly good that we went back the next night & had the same thing again. I hope you will do a Butter Chicken recipe on your show. My husband and I are both dedicated fans!!!

Steve Lundeberg : Whither the compassion?

You say: "What the story said, in a nutshell, was that the woman’s state-funded caregiver services had been phased out and that without them, she’s been unable to keep her home picked up enough to be able to use her walker and wheelchair to get around her home and take care of herself." But then go on to say that: "My comment about mental illness, by the way, was not a put-down. She seemed sick and in need of professional help. My personal hope all along was that by running the story and photo, somebody, somehow, would find a way to help one of our fellow human beings regain her well-being and dignity." The first statement cannot be true if the second statement is true. It seems clear that her mental illness precludes her being able to take care of herself. It is an unfortunate thing that mental illness cannot always be cured - or the symptoms even alleviated. Placing her picture on the front page of the paper - especially a paper in communities as small as Albany, Lebanon, and Sweet Home - has done little to "...help our fellow human being to regain her well-being and dignity." This is not the way to deal with mental illness. This is not a failure on the part of our community - or humanity. Some things happen in life that just don't have answers that make us feel good about ourselves...
