There this big push to get people voting, and It's always had me thinking, is that a idea? If people don't take voting serious and/or aren't well-educated, should they really be voting? Maybe. Wow, excellent post. (especially, since you agree with me). You describe the differences between robots and humans quite well, and i believe you're right to say that robots aren't humans. and we should define what makes us human by more than emotion. However, even though we know this. we still tend to react as if they were alive. (which, I tried to hint a little bit in the second paragraph). Also our emotions tend favour the cuteness over other attributes. I'm reminded of the "survival of the cutest": http://www.scienceagogo.com/news/endangered_speci... Anyways, i should note that this article is made up and the actual number of people who "care" about robots may have been exaggerated for comedic effect.

I was thinking about the interaction between humans and robots. And how easily we come to defense to robots. (i heard about it on the Radio! http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?stor.... While robots expiate attributes such as friendship and understanding. They really have no concept of them, yet we still react as if they do. Any thoughts? It also brings up a study (can't find the exact study, here's a secondary reference: http://www.npr.org/templates/transcript/transcrip... where people were more update to share information after the computer said it crashes sometime.

lol, On a more serious note. Optimism can be just as bad as Pessimism. Overspending leads to bubbles, which are doomed to pop. In fact the Over-Optimism of people turning to Over-Pessimism and back again, probably explains why we have boom and bust cycles.
