I knew you didn't mean God for "big." God must be listening to all of our prayers for the "little" too -- the little birds, and turtles, those millions of fish we never have to watch die because we don't ever look under the water. It breaks my heart to see so much innocent suffering. Of course we all feel deep compassion for the human suffering, and deaths too, but the critters who never owned a car or rode in a boat or mowed a lawn -- they have no idea why the world is suddenly deep black goo and their babies are dying first.

We are back on our househunt again. There is a cute little cottage only a mile from Lake Erie -- needs lots of work -- but only costs 1/3 of the necessary taxes for the grand prize. -- I am just trying to keep it all in perspective. But even with my attempt at dreaming anew, Lake Erie is a far cry from the Atlantic Coast. And it offers no thought of green now, sooo much work to do... when I'd rather be walking and eating blueberries, and tapping computer keys in the tower.

Thanks for the suggestion. We have a huge deer issue here, and living in a church yard that has an acre of woods sometimes I think we have more deer than people at church. The deer look in our windows, and they envy our dog, who treats them kindly, thinking they are our pet sheep. We never feed them, (except with an occasional mishap with potted blueberry plant) Although we do nothing to make them think they are pets when I talk to them they move closer to me and listen. The city called in help from a garden club in another state and they offered a workshop on all these solutions. I went. In our community we have tried everything humane. But our deer are already too tame and tolerant. A neighboring town called in sharpshooters, and culled them. It worked, and those deer are wild again. I hate to think that is the only option. Every year the new adults are growing up smaller in size. I know they are overcrowded.

'ben trying to grow some blueberries in pots, and a dwarf lemon tree -- for years. The deer keep snatching the blueberries out of the pots, chewing off pieces, and leaving them for me to clean up. But the lemon tree has been around for about three years. Today it gave me a lemon! I am so happy I will just drizzle it on a piece of Lake Erie perch and enjoy the sour.

You probably know that those half hulls were how ships were designed. Some people who are wooden boat enthusiasts look for the hull designs of particular old ships to learn from the old, and then review the history of what happened to those ships to hone boat design. Check out the museum in Mystic Conn. You might have read in the photo montage that they had to alter that one to fit the space. I wonder if it was historic, and what alterations were needed. (My mom was an artist so all my antiques have been "altered." It is part of their charm, though it makes it so I own nothing of great value.)

Here's a Christmas thought that comes from living with that color palate of yellows and reds for many years. -- Add a silver something to the mantel. Then pick up the yellows and reds in home-made decorations on a green tree, and garlands -- Shining silvers, and opaque cherry reds and cheery yellows. I've lived with these colors and love them, but I am no design pro. So I hope someone else weighs in with how it really should be. (This is intense debate -- you can tell me I have wacky design ideas -- I won't be crushed.)

Love, love love this art.... such a calm demeanor in that little figure, I could live with him/her. I still love the strange but magic combo of mustard and silver especially in these two paintings. If I should, by chance be the 1 in 13 million who wins this, you will find a mantel painting featuring mustards in my garage sale -- but not this painting. Passionate for my lifetime about this color palate, 38 years ago, for our first parsonage/home, I painted a traditional water color of yellow crocus in the snow, framed in red cherry for our mantel. That's the one I will sell. In fact, everyone who loves this house will love the stuff I own, which I would sell or give when I move in. Yea, I know, coming to my garage sale is not as good as winning, so I also wish the true winner the added blessing of loving this sweet cottage. Good luck, fellow bloggers, may it be one of us.

I just knew we would be talking about this art soon. As I mentioned a few days ago, the video was already waiting for us. I think I also noticed that Gail has another video in cue that hasn't been blogged yet also. (And it is not the basement -- at least that I have noticed.)

Yes, it is so hard to think of those odds. I never enter contests or gamble, but this house took my heart, so I figured I needed to toughen my hide for the loosing likelihood, so I started playing the Megamillions twice a week, just because the odds are so bad. I'd like to end this story telling you I won, but no. I am learning to be a good looser though. And worse yet, Tuesday I went to buy my husband's birthday numbers but it would not let me submit them. The clerk tried everything, but it kept changing the numbers. Then when I couldn't enter those numbers some of them were drawn that night. Go figure. I even loose at loosing. But this is helping me focus my dreams and plans for buying our real house, and you bloggers are so nice, and the site so educational. It is all good.

I should think if a van checks out an address and sees a situation of real need they would not hold that against the possible winner -- I mean, wouldn't we all be cheering for that person all the more?

Nena, Tootsie the visitors to the house have been blogging. It is the cause of the basement curiosity (since they don't show it on the tour.) Go back a few topics and check the blogs. A family posted pictures. I promise you, it will only stir your dreams hopes for winning though.
