The New Normal : Stephen Colbert, Christian nation, helping the poor?

You have a good point..I think it is appropriate to help those in need..AND to welcome them in..show them Jesus..and help them improve their life, if they can..then they can repeat the cycle..but I know it won\\\'t be easy..but we can try.

Crazy Love by Francis Chan is on my top 5 list of books that changed my life. Seriously..if you haven\\\'t read that yet..you must. But I must forewarn readers..if you let it..the Holy Spirit will change you with the words on those pages.

Yeah Kris added a few of his tunes to my iPod..I like his stuff..but this one definitely takes the cake. I think we\\\'re growing in our worship at ECC. And I\\\'m looking forward each week to see how God grows us. Thanks for your comment Jeannie.

The New Normal : Down In Front

That seems to be pretty tight reasoning, Evan. But what if the fans didn\\\'t respond in a way that looked like UGA scoring? That wouldn\\\'t have changed the fact that they scored. If the scoreboard showed that there was a touchdown, and I missed seeing it with my own eyes, and the crowd\\\'s response was not a clear indicator..well..that doesn\\\'t change the truth. It COULD however affect how I responded to the knowledge of that truth. Think about it: UGA scores.. The crowd shows no response or are indifferent.. I miss the play.. I look up at the scoreboard and see that UGA indeed scored.. now what? What/who do I believe? The emotion and expected response to UGA scoring doesn\\\'t match with what one would see as a normal response to that information. And I believe, that would affect how I responded, too. I may doubt the validity of the scoreboard. Or I may wonder, \\\"what is wrong with these people..don\\\'t they know WE SCORED!?!?!\\\" I guess you see where I\\\'m going.. Some Christians don\\\'t seem to respond like I would deem as normal to hearing the truth that they have gone from death to LIFE! And when they are indifferent, it breeds indifference and doubt. Your turn..

I like the idea of \\\"infecting\\\" others. It reminds me of an old Third Day song (read more <a href=\\\"http://www.treybailey.net/2010/08/are-you-contagious/\\\" rel=\\\"nofollow\\\">here</a>).

It is hard for us to judge the hearts of men. I love hearing of revival. I want to see \\\"revival\\\" as a constant new normal for our churches! When we TRULY see who God is and what Jesus has done..wow..how can we not be revived!!!

The New Normal : FAT People Make the Best Disciples

Well said, Shawn. And I agree. I didn\\\'t mean to qualify my definition of disciple so narrowly. We are absolutely called to go and find those whom God is calling to Himself. Thank you for that most important clarifying statement. You guys are keeping me on my toes today. Thank you.

Thanks David for the response. And I concur..we all need discipling no matter the size of our Trouble. It is my desire that the new normal for every believer is that they are involved in a discipleship relationship of some kind. Small groups and one-on-one seem to produce the best results (as you mentioned from Pastor Cho\'s church in Seoul Korea.) Thanks again for your comment and insight.
