The Dollar Heaven : Entrecard Contest Ended

Actually I included a contact email in the About page so there was an alternate method of contacting me other than via email.

Also, while I am somewhat interested, the fact is this blog is kind of ...dead. I no longer update it. I do have a new blog but I don't advertise on it as it is too new right now.

The School Pad : A Guide to Tree Diagrams

Personally I also find tree diagrams to be rather useless, however it is something regularly taught in schools that some students can't seem to understand right away (I don't know why, but my 8th grade class took like a whole week to understand them).

Thank you for the lesson suggestion, I'll add it to my list.

Well that's why I try them out. If it doesn't work, it's not like I lose anything. I can always reword the tips and send them on my twitter..or forums..

The School Pad : A way to not lose your pens

The only place I've seen that sells them is Borders, but ideally any kind of pen that has some kind of hanging thread attached to its cap will do. I like these because they're about 3/4 size of regular pens, so they don't bother as much when I'm dragging them around.

I should hope it's harder to lose a notebook than a pen. That's the point: to minimize the chances of losing things.

However some people are just plain hopeless ;)

The Dollar Heaven : Comparing Writing Sites. Associated Content VS Constant Content VS Helium (vs 2 others)

Well AC already has its own separate review..and I used to have separate reviews for those sites on my old blogs (but I didn't transfer since I only review sites that have paid me or sites that I hate and must warn others against).
However since I constantly see google search terms like "ac vs helium" or "constant content vs ac", I feel I need to make sure those few people find what they're looking for.

The School Pad : Bring sentence diagrams back in full

At least you can read French to some extent ^^. If you visited France and push came to shove you could just have people write what they want to say instead.
And yes, from what I've gathered sentence diagrams are indeed a dying form. While I only mentioned my French teacher's opinion, I've had the same answers from English teachers and fellow students who have gone to elementary school here. I've even asked my cousins (who go to parochial school) and the consensus seems to be "we did it once or twice but then we forgot all about it". I find it very disappointing that such an important aspect of language in general has become so obsolete.

PS. If you're wondering I did take French for the easy A. Americans take English and a foreign language. Therefore I should take French and a foreign language (English). Many of my classmates would say "It's unfair" but then I'd give them this explanation and they'd hush up.

Thank you.
I love microsoft word too. It definitely helps. However for students, who sometimes don't have microsoft word available for all of their writing tasks, they can get lost without help.
Back at 40 huh? I know a lot of people who do that. It must be really hard to just be expected to be back in the swing of things.

The School Pad : Teach about real life

I'm not saying schools should have their system set up around real life. But mini lessons can't exactly hurt. For example: while I may not be able to cook much, I can microwave cook because I learned how to follow directions. But ordering at fast food restaurants, I know the feeling. I don't do it much anymore for my common fast food places (macdo, bigmac, wendy's) where the differences consist of size or eating style (handburger vs nuggets) but when it's a different type of fast food...like chinese...I freeze up. As if I know the difference between pork and chicken. Looking things up in a phone. I don't even know how to get a phone book. Do they come for free? Do you buy them? How do you get listed and unlisted? When are they updated?
I don't have the barber ,or hairdresser, problem because I normally let my hair grow out, and I'm not afraid of cutting it myself when I need to do so. I used to practice on my dolls after all lol. However I'm sure if I were to use one, I'd be confused.

The School Pad : Teach about real life

well I don't think I mentioned I was a girl so it's just an honest mistake. I actually love public school. I've been in a few (very different) schools and I've always enjoyed comparing some of their mistakes and successes. While schools usually do not teach real life skills because they follow the "parents teach that" train of though, the fact is many parents don't have the time (and sometimes don't have the knowledge) to teach these things. I think the fact that I'm still so young, but yet old enough to make comparisons, is a great helping tool for analyzing these matters.
I look forward to your readership but , as I've said in the About post, I won't be a steady writer. I will probably only write one post a week.

The Dollar Heaven : Setting up a Wordpress blog for free

I would recommend Freehostia. I have 3 wordpress blogs on there and I've never had any problems. You could host it on wordpress itself but they have restrictions. If you really want good service, get a cheap Hostgator account. It's relatively easy to set up and if you have any problems, you can always ask me as I have put wordpress on hostgator before (for someone else).
If you want you can put it on awardspace (which is the host for this blog), but erm...let's just say it's been a pain in my butt....

The Dollar Heaven : New Comment System!

Well the face that I can actually moderate comments is good enough.
Something's broken with my blog and the old system won't let me moderate comments (and I am so NOT taking moderation off considering how much spam I get).

I've actually used this system on a blogspot blog of mine. It's cool. I heard there were issues with wordpress which is why I avoided it here, but anything's better than not being able to get comments.
