West Ham Till I Die : Match Thread: West Ham v Middlesbrough

We really asked for it with the starting line up SA put out. It's ridiculous! We play an out and out striker on the right, Maynard isn't comfortable at all on the right. Then play a centre back in central midfield. It just doesn't work at all. Allardyse then has the audacity to complain about how unlucky we were and how we deserved two penalties. The fact of the matter is we didn't string more than one or two decent passes together all game. It's pathetic, what does Nolan do? We have no creativity in the side whatsoever. Awful.

West Ham Till I Die : Lies, Damned Lies & Statistics

Hi Phil, would love you to do a stats article on how we do in the last 15 minutes from games compared to other teams around us. It is pretty notable that we haven't won a game this season when we have been level or behind with 15 minutes to go. I would love to know what the championship table would look like if a championship game was only 75 minutes long. Cheers, Sam

West Ham Till I Die : In Conversation With David Sullivan (Part 6): "We Were the Most Insolvent Club in the Country"

fernandes doing a great job at qpr?? what he has bought in the january transfer window is ridiculous. zamora, 31, was bought for £6 million quid and is on 80 grand a week for the next 2 and a half years. cisse, 30, was bought for £4 million and is probably on around the same, if not more as bobby. got rid of a decent manager in warnock, when they were outside the bottom three, since then are only just outside the bottom three on goal difference losing to the likes of wolves and blackburn in recent weeks. he would have turned west ham into another circus again if he would have been involved with the club.

Totally agree with you andy hammer, Tom stop throwing your toys out of the pram. As we have seen in this league, no game is easy. Especially Ipswich away. Yeah we was a farce tonight, but Ipswich are no pushovers, yeah there in the lower eshelongs of the league but they have had some funny results this season. We are still top of the league and weve brought in some very useful players for championship level, doing a lot more business than the people around us. Seriously, what do you expect!?!? It wasn't ever going to be easy!!!

So if these potential deals going through we will have cole, piquionne, Carew, baldock, nouble, sears, Vaz te, Maynard, ze Eduardo and hall vying for 2 positions, 3 if you count a wide attacking position in there too... Sounds like we need to get a few out Hopefully sears, Carew and piq will be out by the end of the day with hall and nouble sent out on loan to gain more experience

West Ham Till I Die : Monday's Rolling Transfer Rumour Mill

the amount of speculation about this ravel morrison is ridiculous. teams like barcalona, arsenal, chelsea, newcastle, spurs and real madrid have according to the press been looking at him. Fergie says his the most talented 18 year old since Paul Scholes, just his attitude seems to be a bit thuggish. However, if we signed him I think it would be a great bit of business, definitely worth the gamble. if his any good we could sell him for a profit. if his not or causes trouble at the club then we can wipe our hands of him. Sounds like he needs a smaller club than United, somewhere where the manager can put his arm around him and give him a bit of advice. heres a clip of some of the youth games his been in... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLCIxMhBxz4&fe...!

totally agree with you mate, but we always get mugged off with signings. As soon as a club hear we are interested their asking price goes up for a player. Just look at Baldock, he was off to peterborough for 1.2 million. as soon as we are interested and scores a hattrick against a side that are currently sitting second from bottom in league one his asking price goes up to 4 million! yes his done well for us, but his hardly set the championship alight and i have my doubts whether he will be a premiership player. my mate, who is a palace fan said rhodes could have gone to palace in the close season but got priced out of a deal with a 2 million asking price. its since gone to £8million...that's what buying clubs have to deal with in this transfer window!!

piquionne, baldock, sears, nouble and hall are strikers but have all been put out on the wing. i'm just going by the reports i've read on the internet that he can also play out wide? I've read brazilian hammers comments regarding this guy, i respect what you say as I've never seen him play, but if his got a bit of creativity then it may rub off on others. referring back to iian's post about the positive effect of transfers. a fresh new face, fresh input into the squad can have a good effect on a team. With Vaz Te, his contract is up in the summer and he signed for them on a free. If I was D&G i would have put in a cheeky £500,000 bid to test the water, his scoring goals from a wide position which is always a bonus. but he hardly set the premier league alight when he was at bolton. who says he will with us? maybe his just found the right level of standard? with Rhodes, a lot of league 1 clubs would bite your hand off with a £3 million offer. Huddersfield however have reiterated his not for sale, unless a ridiculous offer comes in and to be honest £6 million for a league 1 player is ridiculous! all the players mentioned in regards to permanent moves apart from maybe snodgrass in this transfer window I don't think will improve the team in relation to the amount of money offset by the club for transfers, so why bother throwing money down the drain? especially in 4 months when the players we potentially have bought from this transfer window are on long contracts and not good enough for the primer league.

Theres no point in buying someone for the sake of it. This ze eduardo bloke maybe exactly what we need, a pacey skillful winger that can score a few goals. a short term deal with a prospect of earning a contract to play in the best league in the world. if his rubbish send him back to italy! I don't think we have offered these clubs embarrassingly low offers. 2.2 million for sordell is respectful, how much would they want for someone who is not anymore than a decent player? 7 million for jelavic is overpriced. (remember we payed 7 million for ashton and bellamy) 4 million for snodgrass, yeah thats a good offer and good money, but if i was leeds i wouldn't want to be selling our star man to someone in the same league as us. Especially if leeds are in playoff contention, as they are at the minute. jan transfer window is always a difficult one, just like every other team in the country has found.

West Ham Till I Die : Transfer Update - 2 Days Left!!!

i personally don't think we need to waste our money on anyone at this stage. If we can shift piq then yeah grab another striker, i'm confident that our squad is good enough to win this league especially with the likes of rob hall, nouble and potts to come in for back up if we have any injuries. players we have been linked with I don't personally think will improve the squad, especially flushing 7 million down the drain for an unknown entity such as Jelavic. As we have seen with Cole since Taylor hasn't been in the side, hasn't been given the ball in areas where he needs it. This isn't going to change, even with Jelavic in the side. We have 4 central midfielders playing across the midfield that are all similar and lack the creative spark that we need. If we were to get anyone in this transfer window I would have loved a pacey winger such as mcgugan from forest. but i don't think thats the way big sam wants to play in a league where a solid defence is everything, just look at middlesborough, they haven't scored many at all but are up there. we are only one player short of a fully fit squad, competition for places is already rife. we are top of the league and haven't played well for all but two games this season. Watford away and Blackpool at home. We've also been unlucky against teams such as Cardiff, Leeds and Ipswich. Keep our cash in our pockets, don't panic and get players of a better quality, at a better price in the summer.

by the sounds of it we didn't have too many clear cut chances. no midfield creativity up to the strikers. although, a win is a win and we are better off this evening than we were at the start of the day! i'd much rather be in this position than being stuck in the midsts of the playoff places like last time we were in the championship!!

West Ham Till I Die : Vote: Player Performances v Crystal Palace

come back from the game today, first half palace couldn't get a touch of the ball, we looked comfortable and they looked awful. However, during that first 45 minutes all our possession counted for nothing. we didn't test the keeper once apart from the goal. first 20 minutes of the second half we had avram grant syndrome, palace obviously got a rollicking at half time as they were 100 times better than in the first, and we just froze. faubert, who was my MOTM had the best game i've seen him have at right back. him and bentley worked well together. BUT what is the point in great overlapping play and putting in quality crosses when your only going to have one man in the box? cole was utter tosh today, the only balls he won in the air slowly skittled out of play for a palace throw. This makes me think what is the point of having nolan in the team? what does he do? he doesn't get himself stuck in to tackles, he can't pass, he doesn't run beyond cole for flick on's, and once cole does finally flick the ball down to him on the edge of the area he whips an audacious shot into row z of the stand. it seems the only thing he can do is use his head from 6 yards out! I think this is a major problem as nolan is holding back the way we create chances. apart from our 2 goals today we never pushed the keeper into a save, which is pathetic if we are looking for automatic promotion. lansbury is quality, perhaps the only quality we have in midfield with the absence of taylor but we are playing him on the right/left of midfield, the same goes for collison, his passing and link up play was good today, but in the wrong part of the field because of the position he was being asked to play in. don't get me wrong, i love SA, what his done in his time here has to be applauded with bringing in fresh new faces like lansbury, o'brien, taylor, faye and balldock looking hungry keen to impress whilst getting rid of copious amounts of deadwood. I'm just worried that if we keep playing the formation we are playing with nolan being the furthest forward midfielder we'll be saying goodbye to automatic promotion aspirations..
