Let's spend more money on bike paths, artwork on bridges, open space and high maintenance landscaping. Then we can all peddle our way to Ft Collins while viewing the beauty of liberal urban planning. Ya, that's the answer.

And why don't bike owners have to pay a fee or obtain an annual license to ride their bikes on public paths, roads, etc., just like auto owners? Gotta pay to play baby....

This isn't about a student that was going to announce he was gay. This about a student that was going to give a derogatory speech whom happened to be gay. Read the statement from the school yourself. (Which the TC conveniently left out but they somehow could find a link to Out Boulder. Things that make you go hmm....) The original speech was condescending and ridiculed teachers and students. He failed to revise his speech and eliminate those portions, therefore he was not allowed to speak. If that is true, it seems pretty clear cut.

Of course the TC, and its big brother the Daily Camera, want to make the story out to be something other than it is. Thanks TC for the opportunity to see your social engineering in action once again.

A horrible tragedy occurred. A young hero saved someone’s life then sacrificed his own in service to our community. RIP Trooper Thyfault.

While I understand the emotion behind stopping the use of stop sticks, the logic escapes me. That is like saying, “due to the many deaths and injuries caused by using weapons in the line of duty; we are going to stop the use of weapons while on patrol.”

I can image deploying stop sticks is terribly dangerous, but so is searching an abandoned warehouse in the middle of the night in search of a gunman, or racing through a severe storm to save a heart attack victim. Is the Longmont PD going to stop doing those things because of the deaths and injuries caused by them?

While an emotional response from officers is understandable on a day like today, especially from those on the front lines, let’s keep the policy making for a time when those emotions won’t cloud their judgement.

Choosing to wear blue is inherently dangerous. I am just thankful there are men and women willing to take those risks to protect me and my family.

On a frustrating note, according to Fox31 News, the Longmont PD has stopped the use of stop sticks. “On Wednesday, Longmont police stopped the use stop sticks to end car chases. This decision has been made based on the many deaths and injuries to officers around the United States who have been struck by fleeing vehicles as they attempted to deploy stop sticks” While I understand the emotion behind it, the logic escapes me. That is like saying, “due to the many deaths and injuries caused by using weapons in the line of duty; we are going to stop the use of weapons while on patrol.”

These hypocrites would have no problem if Planned Parenthood, PETA or some global warming promoter put their name or marketing symbols on the water bottles. Be consistent or be quiet.

Another crock of bovine stuff from a group that wants to keep their funding stream intact. There have been less major tornado's, hurricanes in the last 10 years. More snow storms, polar vortexes, arctic ice, then we've had in many years. While one could argue this is proof that the climate is cooling one could also argue that this is anecdotal evidence. However, those same people that say it isn't proof then cannot take the lack of rain in central CA or the lack of snow in the Alps, etc as proof of climate change - which is what they do. You can't have it both ways. Plus, ignoring the cooling activities that have happened in the last several years doesn't mean they didn't happen. - which they also do.

Even the rabid climate change proponents admit that the earth has stopped heating up the last 10+ years. Da' nile ain't just a river in Africa folks.Until the climate predictors can tell me if it will rain next Thursday, and if so, how much, these long term predictors have zero credibility with normal educated Americans.

I also pay enough to get prompt snow and ice removal, but I don't. Bikers get the same "response" as all the rest of us. Which , if you've ever lived in another snowy state, you would say the response is horrible.

Ya, it will be 50 in a couple of days, but in the mean time, good luck......

"Bicyclists pay taxes that support the the roads"....no they don't. We all pay our property taxes, sales taxes etc. but do bicyclists pay an additional tax for maintaining roads? No they don't. Do automobile drivers pay taxes, license, registration, sales and fuel taxes, for maintaining roads? Yes they do. Until bicyclists are willing to pay up, they can shut up.

And stop with the rights thing. Use of the roads, whether in an automobile or a bike is a privilege, not a right. You must be a recent grad of one of our illustrious government schools where you are taught everything is a right.

Mag chloride is a joke and so is the way Longmont, a well a the rest of the state, deals with snow on the roads.Time to get back to liberal application of salt and sand. That is the only way to clear streets quickly and make them as safe as possible as fast as possible.

This idea that we are afraid of killing some ditch weeds but are willing to tolerate a few injuries and deaths should no longer be acceptable. Icy roads don't kill people, using mag chloride on icy roads kills people.
