Hi - The function you are describing is not available in our MaxRef Content Marketing Widget. We are working on version 2.5 right now, so we will consider it. There are no plans to add the conditions you site. Right now, the intention is to display lists of links to posts within categories or subcategories, not links to the category index pages themselves.

WebFadds.com : Is your Content Fascinating, or a Commodity?

Thanks Bill... appreciate you stopping by and catching my mistake. I do know the difference between "road" and "rode" (corrected now above), just plain didn't catch it. Every professional with whom I've worked occasionally makes mistakes -- even the "copy editors" on large publications. I'm pretty sure that if we checked "pencils" you will have used your eraser a time or two, without totally sacrificing credibility.

Hi Bob - thanks for the insights, and I agree that Kevin Smith encourages us to entertain with our content. The bottom line is the "content" of the service or product itself, then when we have a winner, we Content Marketers can seek to entertain and fascinate with how we put the message out there.

Excellent analysis, Barnaby. A sub-theme at the conference is the "power of story", and you are correct on two counts -- it works, and the bullet "take-away" items could have been more fascinating and either rewritten, or placed in a round-up post. The take-away I get from your review is that there's a reason why story-telling is an art-form... it takes a relentless focus, and high skills to pull it off. Ok... now please come back and point us to some fascinating posts of your own.

Hi Michele - Good to meet you too, and kudos on the event and all the live blogging you curated. I have already recommended next year's Content Marketing World to a number of colleagues even though I believe it will burst the capacity of the grand old sprawling Renaissance Hotel, which I loved.

Hi Bob... thanks for your question. Yes -- we can definitely help. But some of this you can do on your own. For example, determine an important category of posts on your site. Then, just go to the menus editor in admin., and add that category to a navigation menu. That will elevate what you know people want into a more retrievable position for new visitors to your site.

HI Bob -- thanks for the nice compliment. You're right it's a left/right brain thing. Starts with design, then coding, then optimization, analytics and design optimization tweaking. I think that's left-->right-->left-->left-->right-->left. Not sure, though! The whole thing comes about as clients ask to develop a site, then after it's "done", want it to perform better. Cheers.

WebFadds.com : Three Powerful Truths for Marketing Success

Hi Bob - Good points. I think the bottom line for me is that people must trust not only the content, but the people behind the content. So, if I have really good content that draws people to my site, then they want to know a bit more what I am about, see some work examples, what clients say (testimonials), etc. Then they usually want at least one personal email before we do business. But at an ecommerce site, there may not be a personal contact before the sale, but there must be trust -- so the extent of personal contact is different for say Amazon.com to B2B sites, etc. But even at Amazon, I think the PR effort to get the story out about the owner/CEO, and their company makes you "feel" like they are ok and you know them.

WebFadds.com : Connection Cycle Marketing & the Rule of Fours...

Hello Scott - I agree - automation is something to be suspected because often you come off looking like a robot, or generate a feeling of "canned" content. That said, the big problem with execution is who has time to tweet to several social networks, then monitor and reply to responses, then write blog posts and comment thoughtfully, THEN do all the other evolving forms of Connection Cycle Marketing? Maybe you are saying that you have to prove out each task via ROI reviews -- then it's worth it. Let's explore that and keep the dialog going.

Hi Bob - Excellent point and question. You had a great post about a similar elephant in social media (http://www.acsellerant.com/2011/01/b2b-social-medias-dirty-big-not-so-secret/) -- how do you work all this efficiently? "Automation" is interesting. I think you have to weigh it against the need for "authentic connection" when it comes to social media. Being social means connecting with other people, not connecting with content. But in these fast and furious times I myself often just send out auto-links to content to social venues. I will tell you, however, that all my own leads converted to customers that happened in social venues like LinkedIN happened when I was "authentically present." More on that in future blogs, but for now lets just say my answer is going to be you have to balance automation with real presence... and yes -- I will discuss it.

WebFadds.com : Content is the King's Gold...

Hi Russell - Good to hear from you. Keep the puppet in the mix, because in an interesting way, that element helped foster the authentic content we are talking about -- he made some rather "authentic" comments during the event presentations. I also plan to blog about ways to direct visitors from well developed content that gives the feeling you might like to know someone (the video examples) to then compel, and persuade them to make that real contact -- the whole visitor behavior optimization (VBO) thing, and will look forward to your thoughts and results from that. - Scott

Hi Bob - Thanks for the insights. I agree that consumating the deal should be emphasized and am always advising clients to hook a good CRM (Customer Relationship Manager, like SalesForce.com) directly into their website lead form, so then can practice "lead nurturing" toward a sale. With larger companies I still see a disconnect between the "web team" and the "sales team" which spells an opportunity to "connect" those two departments in a way that leads to the kind of authentic connection which results in sales.
