To solve this – change the following line in com_user/controller.php (around line 160):

you need to edit the source code directly!

With regards to the URL to replace it wtih:

index.php?option=com_content&Itemid=100091&id=314&lang=en&view=article

Replace id=314 with the id of a content item you have created notifying them that their password is incorrect.

Failing that just update Joomla to the latest version - this was meant for 1.5.

Linode dont really fit with what I need but I did look into them as an option - I have gone for a Cloud Datacentre with Dediserve, ill report back when I have evaluated them :)

They are! I am looking at Dediserve.com - they seem on the ball and their hardware is top notch. I am looking to shift everything away from VPS.net as soon as possible - its just unacceptable to have this much downtime on a server.

In Payment methods in Virtuemart - click on your paypal payment module, and in the extra configuration. Make sure you back it up first as your setup could be entirely different to mine!
