KOMO - Seattle, WA : Undoing health law could have messy ripple effects | National & World News | Seattle News, Weather,

"But here's the catch: The parents' taxes would go up." That's how it works. There is no free lunch. Eventually someone has to pay for it.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : State rejects Seattle\'s request for later bar hours | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather, Spo

In most states where bars remain open late people don't usually go out the pubs and bars till closer to midnight. So these "clients" don't say drunk longer, they simply start their evenings later. If opened later they won't be pre-funking and then hitting the road at 9pm while more drivers are on the roadways.

I'd say they left the story open at the end which makes me assume there will be another act to this movie. The story lacked substance in my opinion- that's all.

This movie lack character build up, plot explaination, and gripping moments. The movie really never took off IMO.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Whistleblower claims to have had affair with Reardon | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather, Spo

Exactly!!! The County should find another prosecutor and court to handle this investigation. There is an inherent issue between the County and her Union with the county leading the investigation. The end result doesnt lend well for the taxpayer nor the county operations.

The State should perform this investigation rather than the light footed county. This girl is just as guilty of spending taxpayer money, and is now trying to receive shelter from the County. All the while her intent will be to lift the wallets of the taxpayers once more in some sort of lawsuit. And for what reason? There is none, but settlements tend to make the ugly go away.

It also could be possible that the officer made two poor judgement calls that night. First was standing behind a car without room for escape- what cop in his/her right mind would put themselves here? The second was firing his side arm because he made the first poor decisions. From what I have heard reported from the deposition the officer said "F*** it" then fired his side arm at him. This doesn't sound like an officer of sound mind. If it does to anyone else, then god help us. I'm wondering if the family is going file suit against the Chuckwagon for over serving. Laws being laws, one would think prosecutors would pull the liquor license away from the Chuckwagon for over serving which initated this incident. It is a shame that an officer is facing trial. Nobody is perfect even when we want them to be. My hat is off to those who tend to the toughest duties in order to maintain our safety.

Don't like those who tempt fate because they simply can. I've spent a lot of time in a lot of parks and have never seen anyone open carry in a park let along carry a shotgun or rifle. The responsible people who conceal carry, and those who open carry in the back country have never bothered nor intimidated anyone from my experience. This smells more like a council member trying to fear monger in order to gain more leverage over something it can't responsibly imply. When the citizen is unable to bear arms it will open the door of opportunity for the illegal gun slinger to impose a threat in public areas. How about if the counties concentrate it's efforts of curbing the drunk and disorderly first. I've seen many fights and threats toward families in parks by drunk and disorderly people, but I have never seen a gun threat.

Hey while Bill Gates is in the giving mood, how about an esoteric earner's income tax. Bill Gates would be the only one on it. It would generate $1B per year to be redistributed to those affected by the "high-earners" income tax.

Why not just take $300 per month, give half of it to the state, burn the other half, and club yourself over the head? I've never seen a group of people so pro-something just so they can be taxed. I guess it being legal for medical reasons only becomes a spring board for the recreational users. How do you tax the recreational users and not the medical users? Everyone will eventually have a prescription if that were the case. Maybe we need medical beer!

Dear Senate, F%<& Off!!! Cut a program or two for a change. Soon I won't be able to walk down the street because some law maker will realize people need to buy shoes for walking and a new tax will be born. They will say they need the tennis shoe tax for sidewalks and crosswalks, but then spend it on extra legislative sessions to figure new ways to tax us once again. I can hardly wait for the next election.

It would only be worth while if it actually included acreage. Otherwise you're just throwing money into a pit and setting it on fire. If acreage was included land could be leveraged to attract others to arrive and open commerce under private land grants. Just nothing to gain by owning this piece of real estate from what I can see.

It's amazing. I don't think Democrates believe in the 10th amendment (nationalism) unless their trying to bend the constitution using case law while ignoring due process.. McKeena is an elected official as well. It's just mind bending that Christine believes she is some sort of checkpoint, and believes she can simply defy the opinion of another elected offical. It wouldn't suprise me if Christine decided to pass legislation to get rid of the State Attorney General kind of like how she handled our taxes.

So what is the definition of the word "haul" again? Seems to me he "obtained" or "collected" $1.5M in stolen property. I didn't see anything in the story regarding him cashing in the stolen property. I just see an assessed value of his "haul". BTW- if he crashed or destroyed it then he most definately spent it no matter if it was monitary or not.

Why not tax Tribal casinos? Oh yea, Christine doesn't want to lose her re-election funding. Not taxing tribal casinos the State leaves serveral hundred million on the table every year. I believe the State could gernerate an additional $300M to $400M per year taxing said casinos. Now that is a resource that is overdue in paying it's share in state taxes. There's just no viable monies to increase taxes in a declining retail market to target budget short-falls in this economy. The direction the State continues will only tax residences out of their budgets. So Mrs, Gregoire, how do your states' residences make up for that short-fall? Are you going to provide jobs? Doubtful. This State needs to rethink how it gets it's money instead of implying new laws to squeeze extra dimes from people who nolonger have them to give.

Yes just like the speed limit. Also, you can draw these same conclusions on the N. Korea situation. See we can only imply from rights that are granted to us, not given to us. This is why the US can't just go in and occupy like some seem to think. This is done through treaties. The 10th is a quassitreat for the states so to speak to protect against federalism. The leverage is always in money, energy, and other types of negotiations. It's a two way street though, states can inter-tango with this that are constitutional; like WA state making pacts with British Columbia regarding environmental issues. But the federal government can't federalize our environmental issues, it can only imply them.
