I guess I could if I could remember the good actions of any officer in BPD. Most of them just suck immensely.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder police suspend 2 officers over Mapleton elk shooting, sheriff launches probe - Boulder Daily

Our city council has been eerily and creepily silent on this. It's disturbing. I guess they don't want to offend their BPD friends that have done such an excellent job of providing them with special treatment and privileges over the years.

Spot on. A few of my neighbors were robbed. Homeless show up naked on our porches. Sleep in their cars and pee in our streets all summer. We can't get help at all. BPD are kind of scummy. I used to think it was because they were overwhelmed by the problems of the homeless downtown that the faux liberal PC boulder contingent has loaded onto them. But now I know it's because instead of answering calls, they're out shooting elk and drinking.

How much goes on in this town with the police that we never find out about? I shudder to think. Shudder. I haven't met very many nice cops in Boulder. They're bullies. Harass people endlessly while drug dealers operate in open on the creek or in front of the court house. Rude. Intimidating. Hands always on their guns like they live in South Central LA instead of Boulder. A disgusting dysfunctional police force that would rather make fun of the town that pays them instead of support it.

Who measures "response times"? Do the officers themselves get to say they've responded to a call? Because I can't tell you how many times that we've had to call the police and they never show up. I live near downtown. This summer we had about ten people living in campers and vans, peeing on the streets, stealing water from the community garden, etc etc. I called dispatch, my neighbors called dispatch, and they only showed up once. There were people living on 4th next to the community garden RIGHT ACROSS FROM THE JUSTICE CENTER. Cops drove past these people every day. The van they were living in was unregistered, they had no place to dump their septic tank, etc. I asked half a dozen times to speak with the officer in charge of this area and didn't get a call back once. When I finally called city council, the police claimed that they hadn't ever received one message from dispatch ever. As far as the people living in vans on the street in unregistered vehicles...what can I say. The calls get answered in Mapleton and Mapleton Neighborhood association has done a pretty good job of building a moat around their part of the city and dumping traffic and other problems on the rest of us in downtown. If ten to fifteen people were living in cars on mapleton the cops would kick them out immediately. We don't get our calls answered at all. As one person pointed out, this elk was on West Pearl and the neighbors called for help because they were afraid it would get hit. The police never showed. When the elk shows up on Mapleton and the neighbors call, the police are there immediately, unfortunately to shoot it.

Daily Camera.com: : Proposal floated for Boulder to boycott Arizona - Boulder Daily Camera

And by the way Boulder, our burden for illegal immigration is not small. In our jails or in our personal lives. Do you remember the girl that worked at Panera that was raped a few years back by two of her co-workers on Boulder Creek path? Both of those rapists were illegal immigrants hired by that store (the old one on pearl). One of those guys had a record but because he was here illegally and hired by an employer looking to avoid paying a real wage who turned his head when presented with illegal documents-a criminal back ground check was never done when he entered this country and applied for a visa. Both of them have vanished and have never been prosecuted for their crime...no doubt they have assumed another identity and found another employer somewhere else willing to hire them. How would you feel if you were that girl? This myth by the unthinking people that say they are left- that illegal immigrants are just these hard working people that want a better life....is just that a myth. More than a few of them are criminals in their own country and they come here to escape jail. Have some empathy for the people that become their victims. I consider myself a democrat, but wonder why the fight only goes on for what people on this side of politics perceive as politically correct? Where were you to protest an illegal raping a girl or an employer evading taxes that you so sorely think we need for health care?

Good on you. I feel like everyone is trying to bully arizona into submission. They have a right to self govern. When the fed starts picking up the tab for the medicare arizona spends to take care of illegal immigrants, gives them money for their law enforcement burden, etc. then the rest of the states can complain.

This is crap. Not that I agree with the law entirely, but States have a right to govern themselves and it's looking like the rest of the country feels it's appropriate to bully Arizona into their way of thinking. Let the voters of that state decide what they want. It's their taxes paying for the children of illegal immigrants to be educated, their medicare fund that is receiving less and less of a reimbursement from the feds that has to care for illegal immigrants, and their police force that has to deal with the increased burden of the crime that comes with illegal immigration. The second highest kidnapping rate in the world behind Bogata is in one of Arizona's cities. I think their burden for illegal immigration is much higher than it is in Boulder. Have some sympathy. I'd love to know how long people in Boulder would tolerate a kidnapping every other week or drug cartels coming in and taking over the city (mexican ones...I know we have our share already) and shooting a few innocents in drive by's.... Our city council sucks. Did you like it when the city approved gay marriage and then were told later we have no right to self govern? Disagreement with their law is one thing. This...bullying them into submission...is totally inappropriate, misguided and high handed.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder County snow shoveling programs short on volunteers - Boulder Daily Camera

Good on the volunteers. But I kind of wonder about these people in million dollar homes downtown that are asking someone to give their time for free. I especially hate the ones that have those "no poop" signs on the front of their house and then don't shovel their sidewalks because they are so community minded. Wish I had the audacity to not only let my dog poop there, but not pick it up.
