Is anyone else deeply concerned about the new Obama plan to regulate compensation at a mulitude of companies?? Not sure how factual this is, but heard that if a company is signifant enough to cause national economic damage...compensation will be capped. Not only companies that acceped bailout money. This is utter madness. No one has the right to bend the rules to satisfy a temporary mood. It is very dangerous, opening the door to many other things we haven't thought of yet.

Everyone, here is where my frustration is: I'm thrilled we're doing this, and it's high time someone with the power to speak to many people (thank you, Glenn) used their unique advantage to encourage lively debate and grassroots action to return to our founding principles. But, and here is the frustration part, it's easy to type "Just vote them out," but HOW? You can't get the truth, the ones waiting in line to run for office come from a Pez dispenser stacked with people who want power and influence and nothing more. Accepting bribes should result in serious penalties, but how will we really know? To quote Churchill, it's a mystery wrapped in a riddle inside an enigma. Pinning down Barney Frank and Chris Dodd is like herding black cats in a dark room. Does anyone believe that these members of congress, at least 80% of them, will consider a bill that could make their own actions against the Constitution and criminal? Just look at this AIG hot potato. They're so busy tossing it back and forth, I can hardly believe these are educated leaders. They're like a bunch of kids who broke a neighbor's window.
So many people are excited about this forum, about returning to founding principles, but the majority are still watching American Idol and eating popcorn. We surround them, but most of us are in recliners. I talk to coworkers about his stuff, and the stare at me like I've just killed their dog. They're too busy reading about the latest Angelina Jolie news to care. So the question, and the answer to the frustration of many, is how to make other people see the danger?

While Franklin was probably referring to reluctance to oppose British rule to preserve personal safety, is this not what we are now doing with regard to the economy? Panic and fear of personal adversity are today's driving forces. No one is willing to do what is right, because it is unpleasant. I also feel that congress is acting hastily to throw money at the problem because they fear a loss of power if the results of their bad social policies are fully realized. If they can fix it quickly, the voters won't pay attention to the fine print of history. I hope they're wrong.
