Daily Camera.com: : Construction on Boulder\'s \'right-sizing\' bike plan begins today on Folsom Street - Boulder Daily

I truly hope every council person who approved this gets voted out of office. This is all about Boulder's brand identity, at the cost of the businesses and people who live along those streets. And safety my butt -- cramming as much vehicle traffic into one lane is an unsafe, irresponsible thing to do.

Daily Camera.com: : Profane Ignite Boulder speech sparks outrage, defense of city consultant - Boulder Daily Camera

As a 40 year old renter who has lived and worked in this community all of my life but can't afford to own here, she has motivated me to also become involved. I'm far from short sighted and am entirely invested in my community. And there are many others like me. That said, it's hard to imagine she could plan that talk and not think it wouldn't get her fired. You represent the organizations you are affiliated with when in public whether you want to or not...

Daily Camera.com: : West Fork fire grows to 53,000 acres, heads northwest toward Creede - Boulder Daily Camera

Kind of ridiculous to point at the government at the source of all our ills in the fire world. In 1910 fires in the west kill 86 people and burned 3,000,000 acres. Such events lead to a policy of suppression that leads to where we are today but if you could stop a tragedy back then why wouldn't you? Bottom line is nature will be nature, and there will be disasters wherever you go. Flood, fire, tornadoes, hurricanes. At least fire you can do something about to protect homes and lives.

Daily Camera.com: : Consultant: Boulder should reduce free arts events at library, move to paid rentals - Boulder Daily

Literacy anymore goes beyond just being able to read. It implies cultural and technological literacy at this point as well. I haven't seen much in the way of homeless people at the cultural events I've attended in the Library. There are plenty of venues for paid, private entertainment in the community. The Library is great because it's an agreed upon space for the public good that is free, provides for all and brings the arts and humanities to people who might not otherwise be able to afford them.

How about a couple of statues of Valerie Maginnis? Or maybe a garden of penis sculptures? Better yet, how about an American flag? Maybe a Mount Rushmore of Maginnis, City Manager Jane Brautigam and Marcelee Gralapp! This library has a rich heritage of ridiculousness and now is our chance as a community to enshrine and preserve it's history for future generations to look back upon and wonder... With the cast of clowns in this town the possibilities are endless.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder County residents question Four Mile station plan - Boulder Daily Camera

There really isn't a good place in that canyon for a fire station on the main road. There are no real straightaways down below except for that one, which is tiny. Everywhere is a blind curve and everyone drives fast. And having in the bottom 2 miles, where a lot of houses are and all the accidents in Boulder canyon, makes way more sense than up top. Kind of funny, her comment about them swearing and spending hours there. If she lives near the proposed site there is no station yet - so what is she talking about? Though hopefully they would be good neighbors, and professional.

Congrats Martin, you called it! "Obama's support increased with Hispanic voters: he won 69 percent of the demographic, compared with 29 percent for Romney. That 40-point deficit is slightly higher than his 36-point victory among Hispanic voters in 2008. [Others had the Hispanic total at 71 percent or 75 percent.]

Daily Camera.com: : CU-Boulder student defends right to carry gun on campus - Boulder Daily Camera

I don't agree. As someone in a position of authority at times that authority would be undermined if those I were responsible for were armed. If I were a teacher I would have a real problem with guns in my class room. I'm all for gun rights but there are places it's inappropriate to carry - on a plane, at work, in class, IMHO. If you carry certain types of knives in NYC you get arrested. Doesn't make the place a police state - if you want to live somewhere you can pack move to the country. Live or work in close quarters, safer without weapons.

Daily Camera.com: : Extra officers stationed at Boulder High as police investigate Facebook threat - Boulder Daily Camer

While I agree with your points Johnny, the other posters are also correct. Facebook is a public forum to be used responsibly. If you don't want something known about you or information about you sold to advertisers, then be selective about what you post. As someone who works with technology, social media, hires people and works with salesman I can tell you individual Facebooks have no relevance to us. Plenty of amiable salespeople who don't care for Facebook. Plenty of good people who let out their respective political rants to their friends. If that matters to an employer then they aren't somebody you want to work for in the first place. So long as you don't cross the line, which is what happened in this article.

Daily Camera.com: : CU psychologist: More real-time information needed during Colorado\'s wildfires - Boulder Daily Came

Gathering information on structures lost and saved is a function of fire personnel during these events. Very interesting about the time stamped uploads - that would be a useful tool for residents. Fire management might frown on that because a house may be standing at 3 pm and photographed but burned at 5. Then the homeowner could argue that the structure could have been saved, not enough was done, etc. where the reality is sometimes a situation is too dangerous, resources are better put elsewhere, a host of good reasons that shouldn't be and can't be liabilities. And that it would be an incomplete map - some houses can't be accessed because of gates, driveways cut off by fire, etc. As far as the article, it's a little ridiculous. Ambiguity is part of it. It's chaos on the ground for firefighters, fire management as well as media and civilians. Nobody really knows the whole picture because it's a rapidly changing and fluid environment with a lot of dimensions. I can't tell you how unclear simple objectives can become in these things. The news reporting, including the DC and information on inciweb are actually pretty good. Take the news with a grain of salt, but it's not bad. I've used them as supplemental information on fires I've been on and got a better picture of what was going on than I got being a firefighter on the ground.
