GazetteOnline.com : IDOT: At least 5 years to Highway 20 completion

They have been working on Hwy. 30 for years. My husband went to ISU in 1969 and they were working on it then. Do you know of any other business that could drag out a project for over 40 years and still be in business except the IDOT? By the time they finish, they'll have to start over repairing what is falling apart.

GazetteOnline.com : Wellmark to repay erroneously denied claims, with interest

Wellmark states "after the errors were discovered “during the normal course of business.” It took ten years to find out they were cheating policy holders. It didn't take them ten years to deny the claim! Why would it take ten years to find this out? Someone not doing their job or were they doing their job and hoping no one would catch on.

Vinton-Shellsburg allows you to pay online - no fees. You can also have a family account and they email you when your child's balance gets to $5.00 so you have plenty of time to put money in their account.

GazetteOnline.com : 500 transportation dept. workers to take furloughs

The article says 3200 employees not covered by a union contract. It does not say anything about union contract employees being furloughed. If they are, then it should be stated in the article. Perhaps the Gazette didn't put that in.

I didn't say it was the union's fault that the state is in the mess it is in. I was stating that the article did not mention that the unions were going to be giving up unpaid days like the non-union people are being told to do. Why should only part of the employees have to give up part of their pay, why not all?

Some Agency Heads Unsure About Pay Cuts |

Obviously the little guy can take a pay cut easier than the executives. I mean, gee, they'd have to give up their boat, condos, trips to Europe. How could we ask them to do that? Fire 'em all and get someone in there who can manage these agencies like a business instead of a free for all with taxpayers money!

They should be making money. It took us 2 years and $700 to get the title to a truck from them. They told us they lost it and it was our responsibility to get a new one. Called the commissioner for banking and they said it is nothing unusual for banks to lose titles. After involving a lawyer they finally came up with the title.
