If you're gonna come to the game, bring a bigger bat or go back to the stands, son. I can't speak for the original Bush or Clinton, but I can speak for W., and the reason I can is that in the testimony Atty Gen Holder gave to Congress, he was asked if he understood the differences between the program under W (known as Operation Wide Receiver) and Gun Runner / Fast and Furious. The answer? He wasn't sure, so Coburn prodded him. Would you like to know the difference? Sure you would, since you obviously didn't pay attention. See the difference is that in W.'s Operation Wide Receiver, the Mexican authorities were notified of the transactions and there was a mechanism to monitor the guns themselves and track the locations. Attorney General Holder admitted there was no such cooperation OR tracking mechanism in place for Gun Runner / Fast and Furious. So no, it wasn't the same thing. No, it wasn't a "Bush" plan that Obama could pin on him also. No, the responsibility didn't rest with anyone BUT Obama and Holder. Now, like I said, if you wanna get in the game, get a bigger bat or stay in the stands with the other farm league folks.

I don't agree. The conversation was about border security. Mentioning fast and furious would be completely on topic, especially considering one of our border agents took a bullet because of the plan.

Knowing them? I'd say an honest mistake, but one brought about by their own biases. Remember a few years back when McCain's campaign sent a letter to the Russian Mission to the UN asking for a donation, but it later turned out that it was just a mass mailing sent to a bunch of addresses and individuals, not the actual embassy? They posted it as "McCain solicits Russian donations." When I asked them to back it up, they couldn't. So I sent them the letter (a copy was made available online). They responded that they stood by their story and that the letter was in violation of campaign finance laws. So I asked them to point out the part that was specifically directed at the Mission. They couldn't. Then they suddenly changed their post. Turns out they couldn't really prove the sensational headline they posted. Shocking, right? So yeah, ever since then, I don't really trust them for much unless I can verify it myself.

Scripps programming guy: "Hey boss, wanna put our stuff on PIX again?" Boss: "Sure, what day?" Programming guy: "How about Sunday? We'll do it starting at 5pm in the NY area while the Jets are in the AFC Championship game. Sound good?" Boss: "Perfect! I love how I earn my raise every day." You guys really are breathtakingly clueless. I guess people aren't buying your big lie that Cablevision pulled your programming so you have to seek other venues to remind people that you're even still around. It's almost a month since you made your big statement, and frankly I don't miss it. Would I like to see Food back on CV? Sure. If it doesn't come back, that's fine too. There's plenty of stuff to watch on Cable these days. And if anyone wants to watch cooking on the web check out: www.imcooked.com www.forkyou.tv And of course there are great sites like Serious Eats, A Hamburger Today, Slice, Slice Harvester, and Beef Afficianado just to name a few that I enjoy. Scripps, you guys blew it. Badly.

Hey Scripps, notwithstanding everything else, can you at least stop with the lie that Food Network was "dropped" from Cablevision? You pulled it, plain and simple,and you hoped that the fans revolting would change Cablevision's minds. Instead, the fans turned on you for being jerks about it. You can still fix it. From what Cablevision said, the channels are still in place and you can get your stuff back on at any time, so stop blaming them and do the right thing: put the shows back on while you negotiate. Fox did it with Time Warner, and I'm sure there are a LOT more Fox fans than Food Network fans. The longer you wait, the more likely you are to lose your viewership to other things in the same time slots, but I guess that's something you can live with.

Okay... #1: They list Android 2.0 as a plus, not a minus. Their criticisms of the marketplace seem a bit overwrought, but it's no worse than slinging the word "fanboy" around. #2: Almost all of the criticisms are, and rightfully so, directed at the hardware itself, which having played with a droid (for more than the two minutes this reviewer probably did) aren't that far off. He certainly isn't the only one who isn't thrilled with the camera and the keyboard. Motorola definitely was trying for something with this design, they just failed at it. That's not a knock on Android, it's a knock on Motorola. Hell, ask Leo Laporte who's done nothing but praise the Droid to high heaven, but he's dinged it for the keyboard and camera multiple times. It isn't iPhone fandom that made this review, and it actually seemed pretty balanced. The Droid is far from perfect, and it deserves to be criticized for its shortcomings, most of which are in the category of mediocre hardware, not the Android OS itself. Incidentally, before you warm up that fanboy label and prepare to stick it to me, I have a Nexus One, a phone I ordered 2 minutes after it was announced, and one that I've already sold my iPhone 3GS for; just so you're aware of my lineage. Oh, and one more thing: MacLife is pretty straightforward as far as magazines go; you won't find the usual "fanboy" type stuff coming out of their editorial offices.

Ya know, I'm getting REALLY sick of Scripps blaming Cablevision. Scripps pulled their programming. Period. They weren't "dropped." It's one thing to have a different point of view, but completely another to outwardly lie, and right now Scripps is lying left and right and many stupid uninformed dopes are buying into it. Face it, Scripps. You thought you could pull your programming and mere outrage over not seeing Michelle Obama would carry you back onto Cablevision. Now that that didn't work, what's the next plan? Cablevision shares the blame, but in the end, the reason HGTV and Food Network aren't on is because Scripps yanked them, not because anyone "dropped" them. Case closed, good night.

This is exactly what I don't understand. You pick a time when the economy is in crisis and people are miserable to overtax the things that might provide them a little bit of an escape? People are living paycheck to paycheck and now they have to pay more for pretty much everything they do. I'm sorry but you don't tax your way out of this kind of situation.
