Is it fair to have seats RESERVED specifically for women? No, it's not. Is there proportional equality in this picture? No, there isn't any.
In my view, this bill still reflects the whole idea of men's control over the outcome or supremacy over women. Why can't we as women, get a seat in the congress just like any congressman. Are we so limited in our abilities that even for us to move up the ladder we still have to DEPEND---WAIT---SEEK APPROVAL from our fellow "GENTLEMEN"? Thanks but no Thanks. It's like they're saying, don't get my seat-my seat is not good enough for you-but there are two seats in the corner for you ladies!
This is a misleading move toward equality. If we (as women) want to possess the same rights as men, then we have to walk the same shoes that they walk in. How could we validate our rights as equal if we have to take short cuts and cheat our way out?
Women in our cultures are raised to be so practically reserved. It was instilled in our minds early on. We were influenced by the minds of others. Now as adults, mothers or school teachers, I wish that WE put a stop to this cycle. It's in our hands now. We ought to balance that bar for our children or our next generation of women so they can rise up, above this level of oppression.
Thank you ladies and keep fighting : )
