Hi Agatha, Yes, I remember you and some of your class - wow, that was a long time ago. I'm still working at Hawthorn, both teaching and working on solving technology problems for all of our teachers. How about you - where are you now and what are you doing these days?

vfowler blog : Bio

I believe you are referring to the candid photo I took on my mobile phone ( http://flic.kr/p/4Xk77 ). I doubt that I have the rights to photograph a movie poster advertisement. If it is my permission that you need, you have it. If you prefer to track down a contact via the poster links at imdb http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0397535/posters then do so. My guess is that you would not need permission if you are painting a generic geisha pose like the one depicted in that poster. If you want to use the word "Sayuri" or the English title "Memoirs of a Geisha" then you probably do need permission from Sony Pictures. Hope that helps.

vfowler blog : I want my MP3

http://playground.last.fm/eventmap is an excellent (comprehensive?) utility for finding upcoming gigs in your local area.
Edudemic : Can You Name The Most-Used English Words?

This looks like fun for linguists. I'm wondering how to incorporate it as part of a larger lesson for English as a Second Language (ESL) learning. My thoughts so far are a bit of trivial fun around collocations and vocabulary, perhaps combining with http://phras.in and maybe http://wordle.net ... Any other thoughts on use for students in studying ESL?

vfowler blog : site redesign

Despite the sexy visual overhaul, it appears the <a href=\\\"http://getshopped.org/\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"nofollow\\\">e-commerce Plugin by Instinct has let me down. I struggled through using it for several months, during which it gave me several headaches. Whilst the plugin is active, the shop was open, and both maintenance of other plugins and WordPress updates could not occur. Not only did it make the entire site a snail paced plugger, it also locked out all maintenance. I have de-activated this plugin for the last time and can\\\'t reactivate it even if I wanted to. Errors prevent me from doing so.

We are resorting to 3 simple PayPal buttons at this stage, until we can find a solution with additional payment options, that won\\\'t destroy the rest of the website.
