I'm not gonna stop posting & helping people, that will be your decision, and as for the thumbs down, well it's a bit of a coincidence that it all happens after I disagree with their ethics....and not before.

Excuse me, but someone is going thru all my comments and thumbing them down, and seeing as I had massive thumbs down from them before then I will ask the question. If you don't want me here then do what you have to, I don't have to be here, I choose to be here to help people in my own free time.

Please give a better description, activation just gets you past emergency call screen and onto your springboard, so what happens when you connect to itunes

No need to stay on 3.2.2 so hit restore and take the restore/update to factory 4.2.1 in one hit using itunes, then jailbreak with Greenpois0n, not have to concern yourself with baseband issues as ipads are shipped factory unlocked

Yep, click on your iphone in the list and click on the general tab and look for "installed baseband version", you will see BB version and next to it is your bootloader version.

Lol, when I re-read your original post, it's so obvious now....aarrgghh. You must of had 'sim locked' instead of carrier name & signal, and the message asking to enter the pin and you only got 3 attempts. Telling us that would of nailed it earlier I'm sure, but Abdul Hassan managed to read between the lines, good one dude.

It's getting a bit messy in here now lol, I just reread the thread and you initially questioned GP use with a different sim, you then said you have the 5.15.xx baseband, so what sim are you using, is it a sim from the original carrier but not the one that came with the iphone, if so I'd say you can probably discount your theory. If I were you I'd be restoring to factory for a clean start and then, once activated with your carrier sim run GP again and make double sure you are getting the timing correct. I ran GP on a stock 3Gs,4.2.1,5.15.xx today and GP worked, it failed the first time with the 60000 whatever error but the second time it completed, but you aren't even getting that far.

It gives instruction when you open prefs to revert lockdownd to stock and then turn off Hacktivate.....is that not all you need to do, it doesn't say do anything else. I've only done this once for someone else, is there something more that needs to be done?

I just think it's not written clear enough up there, I'm not even thinking about tethered/untethered or GP, I'm just thinking about getting to 4.2.1 with a preserved baseband. Maybe it shouldn't say old bootrom at all, just 3Gs.

The 5.15.04 baseband is from 4.2.1 firmware and there is no 4.3 for a 3G. Has @MuscleNerd really said he has an unlock for 5.15.04, I think theres a baseband downgrade being looked into. Anyone with a 3G that has the 5.14.xx (not sure for 5.15.xx) baseband should be plugging their iphone into TU to check their bootloader version before deciding what path to take.

My point is, that without putting the minimal firmware bundle in to Pwnage app a 3Gs 4.2.1 ipsw will not even get recognised, and it clearly says the bundle is for those with old bootrom 3Gs. I don't like it when I don't understand something.

Over the top for untether, just remove loader app when done, no need to reinstall Cydia Read the GP Readme as well
