check when your iphone has been backed-up recently.you can view them in view->preferences->devices.If you have a recent one you might atleast have some part of your data.

If it is an AT&T iPhone consider buying an unlock as it is relatively cheap right now and it will save a lot of hassle for you!

Apparently No ;) . If it is a hardware problem you need to exchange it because having a functional ipad gets the higher priority and the second reason is a jailbreak will eventually come out (We hope so)

So that baby is running the latest version.Glad you made it. Oh I forgot to mention about the tethered jb you have to use ibooty to whenever you need to switch it on,that's why I told it was a pain.

Try using sn0wbreeze it will save all the hassle! and for the recovery mode usee fix recovery in redsn0w. Eventhough you successfully restore to 6.0.1 you cannot use your sim.It will be locked.Either wait for an update of ultrasn0w or buy an unlock.

No ultrasn0w is'nt yet updated to work with ios 6. I recommend requesting an unlock from your carrier/or a paid unlock from a grey market vendor.

If you don't have SHSH you will have to upgrade to 6.0.1 which is the latest version being signed by Apple or as already some members specified 4.1 is your only alternative. 6.0.1 does not have an untethered jailbreak I am sure you know the pain of having a tethered jb.

Hey guys Today I restored my friends 3gs to 5.1.1 . Redsn0w did not go well so I used sn0wbreeze to create a custom stitched ipsw. Everything went well with the restore process. It is a factory unlocked phone but when I inserted a sim it just showed NO SERVICE .There was no sim card while restoring the iphone so i hacktivated it. So i thought that was the problem. To resolve this I inserted my sim card installed sam prefs de-activated and then activated it(everything via SAM) and magically the signal was back. I tried but cannot understand.Hoping the mods will clarify what happened...
