Simply nonsense. The CAVC has maybe a few thousand cases. The backlog is around 1 million. That's less than 1% of cases. Show us all the data that shows the president handed out bonuses to anyone. Much of the bailout was in the form of tax cuts to everyone. We have a huge backlog because there was no planning for the aftemath of war. The major reasons for our current deficit is the drug plan, 2 wars, and the Bush era taxcuts, all done by a republican President, Congress and Supreme Court. How many of you out there were willing to take the chance of the collapse of our country by not having the bailout? Where would you be getting your benefits from?

I have an alternative explanation to the article about the Feres Doctrine. Look at the timeline and see for yourself. This is my opinion. In 1946 was the first of a long line of experiments on our military personnel, Operation Crossroads. These experiments blossumed from there. Read SR 103-97, Interim, Ancillary, and Final Reports 1 and 2. Then look at Operation SHAD/Project112, Edgewood Arsenal, Nuclear Weapons Testing and our needle stick/gun vaccine program and many other experiments of all kinds. We were guinea pigs pure and simple. We've been using chemical weapons on our military personnel and our supposed enemies. Radiation, Agent Orange, Depleted Uranium and many of the most horrific chemicals known to man. This started in 1946, at least at this level. I believe it is still going on. What is the pricetag for murdering our military personnel with these experiments and weapons that are forbidden under the Geneva Convention?

It's not the veterans. It's not teachers, fireman, police officers or unions. It's that capitalism has failed terribly and the corporatists that run the scam are the cause. You have to have honesty and integrity for capitalism to work. We have neither. Veterans earned these benefits, their not stealing from anyone. Go after the people responsible. That's what americans should have been doing all along and we wouldn't be in this mess. The corporatists and the polticians they buy are the ones responsible. Now lets hold them accountable for their actions.

It isn't the veterans putting this country in the shape that it is in. It's the corruption of government by the corporatists. They've stolen the future from our children. They've sent many of us off to wars of greed. Many more were experimented on. Many were exposed to the most toxic substances known to man. All in the name of greed. Many of us have spent much of our lives sick with catastrophic illnesses. We've had our lives destroyed and many have lost everything. All because of our military service. Where were the american people when we needed them to stop this insanity. I would suggest that we hold those people accountable for what has happened to our country. And that sir isn't the veteran.

If anyone wants to see first hand what happens when you have a total corruption of government then just look at Nevada. We have 2 industries and they have a very low tax rate. They don't pay their fair share and control the state politics. We have no state tax and the governor says only cuts will solve our problems and there will be no new taxes. We can't attract industry because our standard of living is low and our education system is a sham. We have the highest percentage wise population of illegals in the country. The highest foreclosure rates. The highest unemployment, infrastucture that is falling apart and the list goes on and on. If this is what you want then move here. We're a tea party, libertarian dream state.

No it's you on the right that claim liberals are marxist, communist, socialist and a host of other remarks made out to be derogatory and constantly used to denigrate by the rightwingers. As for social security, because the rightwing ideologues have claimed it to be an entitlement and their politicians make the same claim doesn't make it so. Look it up in the dictionary. I thought the lefties were bad but the rightwingers are far beyond them in my opinion. I used DAV and didn't care for them but I don't care for any of the VSO's. But many of the people working within were and are wonderful helpful people. I do believe vets when they can't get care should be able to access healthcare systems in their communities, no cost to veterans. My VAMC here in Reno is pretty good, but I've been to a number of VAMC, many years ago and they were bad, real bad. I'm talkimg 20 to 40 years ago.

Where does your right wing vitriol stop. Why do you insult people when their opinion is different than yours. Cut the BS, you intimated that social security is an entitlement, we pay for it, even the illegals. As for the effect on our country and the Obama healthcare plan we won't know for quite some time. It was just enacted and only part. As for Tricare it has been bantered about for quite some time along with raising copays for meds. And anyone can set up their retirement outside of social security. It's just insurance. And I know you believe in the insurance industry. Did you notice the drop in the market in the last couple of years? They need new money and that's what's pushing personal retirement accounts.

Sorry BV but the Boston Tea Party was about taxation without representation not high taxes. The new tea Party didn't realize under Obama their taxes went down. The COLA is figured by way of the CPI-W which is tied to inflation. That was passed in the 70's by both parties and a republican president. If you get rid of the social programs, such as DVA, medicare and medicaid, what do you do with the people. These programs are directed towards the poor and sick. We veterans didn't asked for our health problems that were brought on by our military service.

This type or care is needed. It would be a vast improvement over the pill popping as CK says. I dare say a few thousand to buy your way into financial heaven, then we as veterans should pool our money and buy his influence to get the bluewater veterans and all others exposed their just due. Baucus, McConnell, Boehner, and others receive millions to make sure the healthcare bill would do almost nothing and not a peep out the rightwingers. Boehner has received hundreds of thousands of dollars to make sure there is no wallstreet reform and nothing, not a peep. I can see Filner retiring with all his illgotten gain. You want to stop money from flowing to these crooks then support public financing of elections and get rid of this neocon supreme court. Larry how was the fishing? I took 11 days in the high Sierras about 3 weeks ago and the fishing was great.

I agree we're screwed either way. This is going to get worse. I don't even know if the people of this country can get us out of this mess. Too much BS with very few people informed as to what is going on. The government and the corporations that own them have to fight us and cheat us out of the benefits we earned. The flood gates are opening and many of us realize now what has happened to vets over these issues with exposures. We're already starting another war in Pakistan and how long will it be before we go into Iran. Ike warned us but we didn't listen and today is the end result of us not listening.
He's right in a way. The Tea Partiers are funded by the Koch brothers. They are corporatists and benefit from all kinds of tax payer money. They have their collective hands out on a lot of corporate welfare. The more they steal the less veterans and the citizens of this country have. Even the Tea Party can be scammed. The Koch brothers would love to see total deregulation and no government oversight. Remember it was the corporatist, with help from Ronny, that put we veterans into the situation we're in with the AO. And their still doing it. And corporatists are against all social programs except when they need a bailout.

Unfortunately much of this went on before the EPA was created. The TCE problem was found out in the early to middle 70's. But wasn't acted on for many years. Testimony by base commanders were that once they knew of the problem they did what they could. The technology to remediate these kinds of toxics wasn't developed until about 1989 and wasn't even implemented until the middle to late 1990's and that was limited. Guam was one of the first places because of the extreme nature of the varied contamination and the fact it had contaminated the sole-source drinking water aquifer. But this kind of contamination , in some way, was on all military installations and ships It was a case of doing things for the times. But now it is the coverup and that is shameful. Admit we made the mistakes, take care of vets and move on. This is a worldwide problem that we created. This is a long standing problem and we vets are paying dearly.

This is typical behavior by these people. All's they have to do is scientist shop. They have many on the payroll that will compromise their integrity and this has been going on for at least 60 years if not longer. TCE has been a problem at all air stations. They are the worst of the worst. I believe all military installations use these solvents in some capacity. And please don't forget all the other chemicals such as pesticides and fuels. On Andersen AFB, Guam you could taste see and smell these solvents in the drinking water. ATSDR has said the TCE would have to have been at least 1,000,000ppb. In the early 80's the amount allowed would have still been in the range of 270ppb. Plenty to make people sick. 5 ppb was set as the standard in 1987.

Jim, I think you're being a little niave about Young and our government. Young has told the AO story both ways. To the lady in the letter he says the AO in Viet Nam is the same as that which is sold here in the US commercially. In his 2006 paper, I think, he tells Guam veterans that the AO that was being used wasn't the same stuff that was being used in Viet Nam, but on Guam it was the commercially sold type, not the tactical used in Viet Nam. Show me any document that shows the difference between the two 2,4,5-T's and the places where they were used. This isn't directly about AO but it is about government and corporations and their relationship. I suggest you read SR 103-97, Ancillary Interim and Final reports 1 and 2, War is a Racket by General Butler, the many books written by Atomic vets, Stafford Warren in his final years about what we knew about radiation and the veterans we were exposing. What about the Ranchand Study? Read all about the AO lawsuit. How about Admiral Zumwalt. There's too much to name and I'm trying to do this from memory. You sound exactly as I did 20 years ago.

Curious, these numbers. The number of incountry vets still alive is supposedly about 800,000. They're also supposed to be dying at a rate of about 300 a day. That means in a little over 7 years they'll all be gone. And not all those veterans are sick. Their numbers maybe are prognosticating that outside Viet Nam and Bluewater veterans are ultimately going to win their cases for AO exposure. One thing for sure is they inflate the numbers. The true cost of war for the corporatists is a real downer. Now what will their bought and paid for legislators do to stick it to vets. The stabbing has begun with Simpson and Fox Noise. I did notice the other day MSNBC is covering the issue, kinda. They had Soltz on their but he isn't the person to ask about AO. Charles Kelley or Kurt Preisman come to mind.

Actually these properties are an asset. I know here in Reno, what I was told, the new VARO was DVA owned land. The old VARO was a leased building with insufficient space. The lease ran out. I beleive in other instances, in Reno, there has been additions to the VAMC this too was DVA owned land. The way the market is right now you certainly wouldn't want to sell. And their nationwide stradegy may be to convert all DVA buildings to there own land. That would save money in the long run. I would much rather see these news organizations, if that's what they are, I have my doubts. Tell the truth about veterans care and the cost of war. Tell the american people about Bluewater, Agent Orange vets outside of Viet Nam, what was done to Viet Nam vets and the phony studies of herbicide orange, Atomic vets, edgewood arsenal, SHAD/Project 112, and most of all our exposures. Or how about why our government continually lies about going to war.

Mimic is right but it isn't the disease. The disease comes from exposures to many of the substances military personnel are exposed to like pesticides. Guam taught us what is behind these diseases but the DoD, US government and certain corporations sought to cover up the cause. We may not have had better living through science had this information got out. My only question is why isn't Parkinsons service connected for all military personnel in all time periods? There are currently tens of thousands of cases in military personnel but only our Viet Nam vets are presumed.
