This transaction violates the 1982 accord with China. Why does the government of the USA continue to press forward where no interest of the USA is involved other than placating weapons dealers? This archaic, shortsighted behavior does nothing but irritate the fastest growing economy of the world who, if you noticed, holds a significant economic advantage. Taiwan has no energy resources, most all of its manufacturing is done in mainland China and it is closer, both culturally and geographically, to China. Trade with China dwarfs trade with Taiwan. The West could learn so much from the East...a culture that stretches back over 6000 years. The Chinese people are diligent, industrious, friendly and eager to make friends. Just ask any of the thousands and thousands of American tourists their impressions of this lovely emerging country. Let the Cold War Culture be laid to rest. While the USA's incompetent economic policies have it plowing into bankruptcy, China is moving forward with four times the population with stellar GDP growth. The USA government seems to be so alienated from the American people. A peaceful approach is always the best option. Washington is out of touch.
