If you read the article, you discovered that there are tissue typing issues when using embryonic stem cells to create the cell types needed. Given that embryonic stem cells come from a different person, the typing issues are obvious -- given the number of blood types humans have, choosing the wrong embryo to dismember for your blood cells could be fatal. This way, there's no problems of that nature. And, reading the article a second time, you might discover that stem cell researchers are the ones reporting this breakthrough, so they have indeed "done it", without one penny of the $6B dollars California allocated specifically for embryonic stem cell research.
