What probably happened is that yours is indeed unlocked phone but the cellphone company only allows phones that have been preregistered to work on their network. Korea is the same way. I had a hacked unlocked phone; I could pick up the network, but I couldn't use it. You might have to register your IMEI in order to get it approved to work with their network. I know in Korea it is = 500 USD. It might be free there, but that is what it sounds like to me.

There is no such software as of yet that will software unlock your device. Apple just recently started to sell Iphone 4's factory unlocked, so best bet is to sell it or look for grevey sim to solve your issue.

If your phone when you received it had cydia on it, chances are it is best that you do not update because it is unlocked with ultrasnow.

I just told you that. The dev team is working on a way to downgrade the baseband, but that takes a back seat to i4 unlock, from what I have read.

Just stay were you are now for your firmware. The 4.0 + firmware really slows down the 3G tremendously. There really isn't anything new for the 3G anyways.

I have done that many times. The apn I have changed from internet2.voicestream.com to epc.tmobile.com Along with inputting the proxy and MMSC along with the UA Profile. This is on a Factory Unlocked Iphone without jailbreak. Those settings do not work.

I would just restore if you are getting it factory unlocked. I mean you can't be locked out after word so might as well restore to your current firmware. I would suggest uninstalling ultrasn0w

You should be able to use the phone and not occur any penalties. If you already have an ATT plan, just cut the sim card into a micro sim and you will can use your current plan with att. Don't quote me for certain but I think that is correct. Give it a shot.

What would probably be the best firmware for the Iphone 3gs with a jailbreak. The 4.2.1 has an issue with Tmobile not receiving mms, but I was curious what your thoughts are.

Did you by chance try the fix recovery... It might work for DFU mode. I'm not sure though, but you can download that from the tiny umbrella website.
