Ron Edmondson : The Blindfold of Experience in Leadership

Thanks for the encouraging post Pastor Ron! Thanks for the motivation tonic you provide every morning through this blog. As I read this post, I am reminded of the episode from the New Testament where Paul encourages and builds Timothy. What a blessing for young Timothy to get mentored under Paul!!!

Ron Edmondson : Do You Want a Leader or a Manager?

Yes Pastor Ron! The challenge of leadership is always greater than managing --- ~ Leadership involves standing apart from others without separating yourself from them. ~ It could also mean speaking up when others are silent. ~ It necessarily requires the leader to remain steadfast, grounded, and measured in the face of uncertainty. ~ A leader must respond productively to political opposition (even backstabbing) without getting sidetracked, distracted, or losing your focus. ~ And a leader should be able to stay in the discomfort of a colleague’s anger without shutting off or becoming defensive.

Ron Edmondson : The Power of One

Thanks Pastor Ron for the vibrating post this morning. I am blessed as I read and internalized the learning. I just completed reading a fantastic book, "How do you measure your life?" by the Harvard Business School Professor 'Clayton M. Christensen'. At the end the book, Christensen asserts that -- "While many of us might default measuring our lives by summary statistics, such as number of people preside over, number of awards, or dollars accumulated, and so on, the only metrics that will matter to my life are individuals whom I have been able to help, one by one, to become better people." A book first; and, a post today. A good time for my reflection and action!!!

Ron Edmondson : The Elasticity of the Heart - An Important Life Principle

Ron! Thanks for the much reminder this weekend. I can 'feel' the words and relate to the meaning conveyed by you. The Bible is very categorical in stressing about the importance of guarding the heart. King David, a man after God's heart, commits a mistake by failing to guard his heart for a moment and falls for a married woman. And, it finally leads to a situation where 'blood never departs from his house'. In Matthew 15:19, Jesus himself asserts, "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies." Therefore, it is inevitable that we guard our heart.

Ron Edmondson : 10 Things You Can Do Today to Improve as a Leader

Thanks Pastor Ron for the fantastic ideas! (1)As a leader, I feel that it is important to have clear vision and challenge status quo. There is nothing wrong in being a visionary. This necessitates one to be creative and think outside the box. (2) It is important for a leader to observe things using all his senses. It will help him in his decision making process in the long run. (Observation is a skill which many do not possess these days) (3) It is good for the leader to have an undivided heart committed to a purpose.

Ron Edmondson : 3 Challenges for the Church Planter

Thanks Pastor Ron for the post today. I feel that one of the major challenges in church planting (sometimes daily basis) is that church planter facing situations where he is uncertain how to handle. He might have been uncertain about policies to be adopted / leadership decisions to be made. I believe that when one is planting a church, everything he does will be an experiment.

Ron Edmondson : Time Saving Advice when Discerning a Change...

Thanks Pastor Ron for the insights -- Discussing the “how” before the “if” usually wastes valuable time and energy. This is true. I believe that along with "if", we can also include the "why". Many times, I see people failing to address this "why" before harping on to "how"? When we are able to answer the "why", then "if" and subsequently "how" can be managed with ease and confidence. I feel that this is the one of the prime reasons for success of the 'purpose driven people' in this world.

Ron Edmondson : A word that impacts everything in leadership

Thanks for the push on attitude, pastor Ron. I am great believer on attitude. Yup! Our attitude can -- •make a difference in our approach to life •make a difference in our relationships with people •make a difference in how we view challenges Also, I think our attitude cannot -- •substitute for competence •substitute for experience •change the facts •substitute for personal growth I believe that Viktor E. Frankl (the Austrian neurologist and psychiatrist and the Holocaust survivor and author of the book ‘Man's Search for Meaning’) is one of the good examples of great attitude exhibited during his imprisonment under Nazi regime.

Ron Edmondson : Three Temptations That Destroy Good Leaders

Agreed Wallace! It is rightly stated in 1 John 2:16, "For everything in the world— the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does— comes not from the Father but from the world." Everyone is prone to these 3 temptations and good leaders are no exception. The key is to cling on to the Cross and surrender ourselves unto Him (not once, twice, or thrice but) everyday, every time.

Great insights Ron! Thanks for the post. Though I am into the church leadership process, I am interesting in mentoring and developing people in my function. It yields great mental satisfaction than other career achievements. Initially, I drew great inspiration from the book "Mentor Like Jesus" by 'Regi Campbell'.
