I don't agree. I think it's been long overdue to legalize. ;-) Thumbs up anyway since you're correct, I was just saying, that we should stop debating about this topic and just get it passed anyway.

that post really made me laugh. Steve Pool is awesome. I could imagine them playing basketball. In fact, that'd be pretty entertaining to watch. I'd pay $100 for the Komo team to play a game.

Thank you blackcar. Some people think that if it becomes legal, everyone will be high all the time. If you're going to consume a substance, make sure you have a designated driver if you're going out, or just stay home.

Yeah. Try smoking salvia and then ask yourself why salvia is still legal in Washington and marijuana isn't. You'll wonder whether or not you died if you smoked salvia, whether or not you're in a different galaxy, or transformed into a different animal or object. That's how backwards the laws are in the U.S. Something that completely hinders your ability to even move, talk, or even do basic motor skills at all (Salvia), is legal, and something that has little to no intoxicating effects (Marijuana) is illegal.

@StrongEvidence First of all, I'd guess that you're around 50-60 years old. Marijuana is not called dope any more. Heroin is referred to as dope. Want to know why? One can still function and perform well at a job, do schoolwork, etc., when they're high on marijuana. When you're high on heroin you can't really do anything. I'd give you fifty names of people who go to college and have jobs that are about to graduate with four-year degrees that smoke marijuana, but I respect their privacy so I will not give you their names. I can only give you my word. You have been brainwashed by "Reefer Madness" and political propaganda. Marijuana was first banned federally because of racist reasons. Look it up. Do more research, and in fact, you'll probably find that some people that you work with smoke pot. I'll bet you $1,000. They won't tell you that they do, but you'd never know if they did or not. I've had college professors that smoke pot. I've worked alongside people in various fields of jobs that smoke pot. They've all taught me a lesson. Marijuana is not harmful. Our own president has smoked pot. What does that tell you? The leader of the free world once "inhaled frequently". He has the highest job position on planet Earth. He may not be paid the most, but marijuana didn't prevent him from becoming an Illinois senator and then to become President of the U.S. Here's a way more intoxicating drug for you. LSD. Want to know who did LSD many times while working on an operating system? Steve Jobs. Aldous Huxley, wrote a book called the Doors of Perception, which is very famous, and did LSD many many times during his lifetime. He even requested it on his deathbed, and got an intramuscular injection of it. Ken Kesey, who wrote "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", did LSD. George Carlin did mescaline, which is very similar to LSD. Marijuana on the intoxication scale compared to LSD is a -1000 out of 10. Marijuana on the intoxication scale compared to alcohol is about a 1 out of 10. Marijuana on the intoxication scale compared to Xanax/Valium/Klonopin (all legal prescription drugs) is a -10. If people could become successful after use of one of the most powerful psychoactive substances in the world, then marijuana is nothing. Let's compare a drug that is still legal, Salvia Divinorum, with LSD. They are about the same, Salvia having much shorter and much more intense effects than LSD. Compare salvia and marijuana and then get back to me. People should have the right to put whatever they want into their own bodies. I'll tell you this though, the most intoxicating substances I've been on were pharmaceutical drugs. Big Pharma won't allow them to be outlawed though, they have too many lobbyists in D.C.

Would you rather have the gang-related violence and guns that comes with prohibition? Would you also rather have the ability for anyone of any age, even children, to be able to get their hands on pot, that also comes with prohibition? Dealers won't card anyone, all they care about is getting money. Would you also rather have the unregulated, non-inspected, unsafe problems that comes with drug prohibition? Most overdose deaths due to the unregulated drug trade are because the drugs themselves aren't tested for purity, or quality inspected, they're most likely adulterated with other chemicals, etc. People will use marijuana, alcohol, or any other substance if they want to, regardless of its legality. Your argument is seriously flawed. It's someone's *own* fault if they decide to get into a car and drive after drinking/getting high, or beating their significant other or kids. There are plenty of responsible people who smoke pot. I could name twenty off the top of my head, but I respect their privacy. They all are enthusiastic about life, upbeat, they are kind and courteous, they think rationally, they are physically active, they're successful, etc. They're all adults with careers. Marijuana anyway, would most likely not result in such a problem. I don't think I've seen anyone go ballistic and become violent on marijuana. They usually just want to sit on the couch and eat doritos and watch television...basically like most people in this country anyway, except that they are high. They're not going to take the gun from the cabinet or above the bookshelf and see if they can survive a shot to the head, they're not going to get in their car and try and run people over, they're not going to do anything you may have seen on "Reefer Madness". That is all propaganda.

No...just no. Your first sentence essentially suggests the following: "Let's just pit all the gangs of Renton against each other in a battle to the death! That way it won't be like Mexico's drug cartel problem or anything, and then we can let them get rid of each other!" Quick lesson: Here's how you get rid of gangs. Gangs operate based off of black markets, that usually involve drugs. Get rid of the black markets and the gangs go away. Haven't you read anything about alcohol prohibition and what it caused in the U.S.? Gangs sprung up everywhere. Al Capone? That name sound familiar? When alcohol was re-legalized all the gangs disappeared.

Another stereotypical statement. I know a guy with an $80,000 car. Goes to college, doesn't do drugs, and is going to graduate with his Bachelor degree in two semesters. Having lots of money doesn't always corrupt people. And then you advocate going to church, like it solves all problems. People can overcome problems on their own. They don't need a religion. Stop preaching. Thanks. ...this coming from someone who believes in a God, but I don't go to church because I don't like being told what I should and should not be doing. I'm an adult, I can think for myself.

Wait...what the hell? "Thug wanna-bees" are innocent people too, because they're not thugs. They just might act and dress like them. That is an entirely hypocritical statement. If you want thugs and thug "wanna-bees" shot, then you're insane. Almost everyone between the ages of 18-25 looks like they could be a member of a gang--about 90% aren't...they just might wear dark clothing or something. Doesn't mean they're a thug or a problem. You're relating wanna-bees, who aren't actually who they "try to be", with the real problem. So you're essentially advocating having 90% of 18-25 year olds shot. Great job.

Ehh, I'm not sure...It's just Renton--I don't think it has anything to do with people who tune their cars. I've driven through the worst parts of Renton before with extremely powerful dual 12" subwoofers in my car, tons of electronics, etc., blasting Dr. Dre, and I got compliments from African-Americans as I drove by, me being a white male. They didn't decide to start shooting and take my car or my sound system. They just went ballistic and said "Nice! Good choice of music!" So let's not profile people in Renton, or anywhere. Just spreads more hate. If you don't wanna get shot in sketchy areas you need to at least act like you're not threatened or phased by anyone. Dark heavy clothing, arms at the sides--they won't know if you have a gun or not, so they won't bother you. And wallet in the front pocket. If they aren't sure whether or not one of them or their friends knows you, that's a good thing. If they do know you, and they confront you, chances are you pissed them off somehow (or you're making yourself appear vulnerable). That's how gang activity works. This is probably why this attack happened. I'm guessing there was some sort of dispute between these victims and the attackers before this incident (could be weeks, months before, doesn't matter).

I'm also curious to see how President Obama will answer the five highest voted questions on "Interview with the President" on YouTube. They were all about the War on Drugs and legalizing marijuana. Over 1,000,000 people voted, and I'll bet huge money he's going to dodge the question again, solely as a political move to not hurt his chances at re-election, even though it's clearly obvious that ignoring those highest-rated questions will be his downfall. We have the most people in our prisons, each prison costs about $165 million to build, $35 million a year to maintain, and we have like 2,000 of them nationwide. Let's not forget about the court costs to incarcerate these non-violent drug offenders, and the extra costs to pay for police to enforce such a trivial and racist law (yes, it is a racist law, look up its history). Look at the top five questions overall (I took a screenshot just in case it gets "changed"): http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/7701/president... Guess what five questions Obama will dodge? And guess whether or not he'll get re-elected? I'm not voting for him if he dodges the questions and doesn't answer them seriously. This is a very important issue, and if we had not started the drug war in the first place, we would probably have little to no federal debt right now. There's a reason why over 1 million people voted on this issue the most.

Can we stop having articles about the possibility of legalizing it and just....well, you know, legalize it already? This is getting ridiculous. I have a few points to bring up: 1. It helps curve drug addiction of *hard* drugs, like cocaine, ecstasy, meth, heroin, etc. That is documented as fact in a number of studies. 2. Pot itself is not physically addictive, so you can quit taking more harmful drugs if you smoke it, and then stop smoking pot easily (I did this when I was taking tranquilizers and like 80mg's of valium a night for sleep, for two years, and those two drugs ruined my life for that time period and set me back in school. Pot didn't. I would sleep about 16-18 hours a day with the tranq's and the benzos. I couldn't do anything.) 3. It doesn't cause lung cancer, but as with any smoke, it can make respiratory illnesses more prevalent. However, I know people who have smoked pot for 30+ years regularly and they don't even have a chronic cough. Also, many of these middle-aged adults I know who smoke have millions of dollars that they earned legitimately. One of them is a medical doctor. One of them is a scientist. 4. Pot being illegal just creates a black market for violence and corruption. This happens with ANY black market, but weed is not deserving of such a negative connotation. 5. If it were legalized, it could be taxed, similarly to alcohol and tobacco. 6. Because it is still illegal, children can get their hands on it, because dealers don't card anyone. If you have money, they'll sell it to anyone. So the argument of keeping it illegal to "protect the children" is invalid. If it's legal, it can be regulated and age-restricted. There are no restrictions on it now. 7. Keeping it illegal is a public-health issue, because street weed could have anything in it. If it were regulated, it would be tested for quality and safety. That's all for now. Lastly, I stopped smoking because the laws surrounding its use are too stupid and backwards, and the laws are what ruins people's lives--however, it's their choice to smoke it, so they shouldn't be punished with what they put in their own body if it doesn't harm others. The end.

Can they sentence the guy that escorted him through security without a passport too? You know, the "sharp-dressed man" that was reported all over the news? Oh wait...that's right, that never happened. Wake up people. Why do you think we have body scanners? Because of this underwear bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. Now do we actually need these scanners? No. Cue article of suicide bombing at Moscow Airport yesterday that happened in the baggage claim area, that anyone can access. There's no stopping these guys. They continue to get around security, then the government modifies security, then "terrorists" work their way around security more, so it gets tighter and more invasive. The probability of you actually being directly affected by a terrorist attack? 0.000005%. So why have the security? Government control. Enough said. They get a hard on while looking at your wife's breasts from naked body scanners, which they actually *do* save on computers. Have fun flying commercial and having your entire body profiled. Why does the Pentagon and military not want soldiers to read WikiLeaks? Because the war on terror is made to look like it's worse than it actually is. Read the cables from 2009 and 2010 yourself. Track the armament deals and money trails. These people who blow themselves up? They get brain-washed and their families paid. Who do you think does this? Just think of who would benefit the most from such a scam. Do you really think an independent terrorist organization has this many resources? No, they don't. Now how do you make armament sales soar through the roof? Create a conflict between two seemingly opposing forces. This has been done hundreds of times throughout history, this current "war on terror" is no exception.

I feel bad for everyone that has to take business trips on planes and be groped or go through a naked body scanner. It's practically the same thing as taking off all your clothing and doing nude pornography, since all the photos are saved onto computers. Have fun with that. Here's the best deal I've found for flying. Not flying. I think it costs around $0. I'm not exactly sure though, I might need to double check that price. There was the mythbusters guy that got through security with two twelve inch razor blades, there was a guy that got through a scanner with a loaded glock, there was a TSA agent who was busted for having 10,000 body scanned images of children (child pornography), on his computer, even though apparently the images aren't saved/archived....and I'll just stop right there, because this post would be over 5,000 words in length if I kept typing about how the TSA is just one big joke. So, you would be okay if your kids were blasted with ionizing radiation, or have their privates felt up? What about your grandparents? Mom or dad? Would you like it if they had that happen to them? Yes, let's just keep "dealing with it". The Bill of Rights doesn't mean anything anyway. You know that 4th amendment? Remember what it is? Apparently it doesn't mean anything to you....so, we can just get rid of that for you. Mind if the police search your house every day and tear through all your furniture and belongings without suspicion? It's what the TSA does with your luggage and your junk. They search you completely, without any suspicion. Guess what the workers at airports in Israel do? They ask you three to five questions. If you answer them like 99.99999% of regular travelers would, you're allowed to board the plane. If you are trying to hide something, it will be obvious when they ask you the questions. And they've had no terrorists board their planes since they implemented that policy...and it's ISRAEL. So, would you rather have your privates saved to a computer permanently, be essentially molested, or asked five questions?

Here's a question. Does there even need to be a security line? George Bush once said, in regards to bin Laden, "I'm not really concerned about him." Even though according to the government, bin Laden blew up the World Trade and killed 3,000 people on U.S. soil...but, Bush wasn't worried about him. I guess 9/11 wasn't a big deal? /sarcasm How many times has the U.S. gotten successfully attacked since 9/11? Zero. In the past 9+ years, have we even found bin Laden? No. We found and killed Saddam Hussein though, who had nothing to do with 9/11. But guess what? We found bin Laden three months prior to 9/11. Guess who found him? A Western journalist....who actually interviewed him too, and came out alive. And the CIA decided to visit bin Laden before 9/11, but didn't arrest him. Not strange at all either... Sound suspicious? No, guess not, lets just cover our ears and pretend the world is all happiness and joy.
