I said this earlier, but there is no real threat of sharia law ever having any hold of the United States. Federal courts have consistently (much to the dismay of the conservative religious rights) struck down laws that are religious in nature. Sharia law is already not constitutional. Why pass laws for political showboating? I am sure if people started passing state amendments outlawing laws based in Christianity, many conservatives would be angry. In fact, neither Christian nor Sharia law codes need to be outlawed because this is already illegal in the Constitution.

Also, just because some Liberals support a free Palestinian state while also supporting a free Israeli state, does not mean they support Sharia. American Conservatives has consistently supported Saudia Arabia, which has Sharia Law.

This argument is shaky at best, and completely not true at worst. First off, this is clearly not blackmail. Business (and any contract) means that one choses who one goes into business with. It is not blackmail to not give money through exclusive contracts to those who you don't agree with. Second, one solution that Lady Gaga would likely support is that corporations should perhaps not give money to politicians. Many corporations, and perhaps the majority, don't give money to politicians for this very reason. It is difficult to give money to any politician without angering some group of people, which could lead to a boycott by any number of groups. And third, the "Gay Left" do not support the institution of Sharia law. Many may see the current moves to outlaw it as repetitive and an unnecessary provocation of peaceful American Muslims, as religious law cannot have a role in decisions, as shown by the constitution. The state cannot outlaw something because the bible says it, as shown by numerous court decisions. So, Sharia law could never be used to justify a law. The only point of passing an anti-sharia law is a political point.
