Together We Think : Day 9 - Warning: Alone And In Trouble

This is so good. Man, I love your vulnerability and authenticity. We willingly choose accountability when our desire to change eclipses our fear of being found out.

Human3rror : A Table Full of Empty.

John, I was also bummed that we didn't meet. *sigh* I was really looking forward to changing the world with you guys before breakfast. The good news is, we didn't secretly meet somewhere without you. ;) The better news is that when this team meets, we can't imagine meeting without you.

Together We Think : What Can You Do In 10 Seconds?

Rodlie, Thanks for swinging by. We'll get on the "about" page. You are exactly right. We're just a couple of dudes starting out this journey and haven't gotten to it yet (not having a decent "about" page probably gives that away). Thanks for the comment.

Together We Think : Confessions of a Pastor: I've Never Read the Bible

A woman can be a powerful motivator. ;) "Not for the right reasons..." is something I'm going to touch on in the next post (or two). Here's a preview: reading the bible isn't the end; it's a mean to the end. More to come...Thanks for sharing.

My wife and I have talked about this as a dream of a goal. Barely a dream, nowhere near a goal, but a VERY intriguing concept to imagine.

Together We Think : Moving at the Speed of SLOW

I love this, Scott. One of the things I do to slow down is making a solid effort every evening to leave my laptop in the car and my phone out of sight. It helps me be fully present with my family.

Together We Think : Obama, Facebook, and Church

Thank you for the thoughts, SR. I love this line you wrote, "it is easy to let technology drive the process and actually inhibit progress." I agree that we need to keep our eyes on the mission of making disciples. Through this thread, I think that what's becoming clearer to me is that the question "How do we use web technology to make disciples?" is a good question; the better question is, "What do we observe historically--in meatspace (offline)--about how are disciples made? How do we enable that online?" The answers to the "good" question seem to be centered around tools; the answers to the "better" question are more about behaviors. The Fast Company article is convincing me that understanding the behaviors is the better insight.

Ragamuffin Soul : You're Such A Cheap Date!!!

We've got a 3 yr old, an 18 month old, and one due in May. In addition to "real" dates (more than 1 hour, includes a meal, etc.), we like to have micro dates (15-20 minutes). One of our favorite micro dates is loading all the kiddos into strollers and taking a walk around the neighborhood when I get home from work. The kids are occupied (or at least immobilized in the stroller) and we actually get to talk. It's money.

Together We Think : Don't Let The Dream Become A Nightmare

Good word, Scott. One of the keys to this for me is to ask myself the question daily, "Do I believe that God is directing my path (even the minutia) or do I think he's forgotten me?" If I believe that he's even directing the minutia of my path, it makes it a little easier to trust that where I am is strategic even if it doesn't feel that way in the moment.
