You might add that people who own specific breeds may find additional organizations that focus on helping their breed. We own keeshonden, and I am aware of several organizations that work on raising money for rescue and medical treatment of this type of dog. We'd much rather try to help an owner in crisis keep their dog than to have to step in to rescue or rehome him or her. Less stress and grief for both humans and canines involved. People in crisis may find resources by searching online for financial help for their own specific breed of animal.
