KOMO - Seattle, WA : Man killed when pickup trucks collide | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking N

The black truck was the one that hit the red truck, the black truck is a full sized pickup, the red truck a small "Japanese" pick up. The black truck,s bumper probably rode up over the red truck's bumper and peeled the pickup bed up to the cab.

Assuming the deceased was in the red little pickup that is crunched clear up to the cab, have seen people killed in collisions a lot more minor than this. All it takes is for the force to drive you into something and hit something vital.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Wildfires coming late to Wash., but danger remains | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather, Sport

Actually those temperatures on the other side of the Rockies are record high temperatures, coupled with drought in areas. And while they in and of themself are not indications of "climate change" or "global warming", coupled with rising ocean temperatures, receding ice caps at both poles, and shrinking glaciers on all continents most all scientist agree that global warming is occuring. The only arguement left for them is whether man is causing it, or if it is natural. I tend to believe that man is one cause of it, and some may be natural, but I have no doubt that at this point in time global warming is happening. That does not mean that next year due to some natural disaster or other large event, that we might not go into a period of global cooling. And actually, one year or ten years is not enough of a time frame to give any definite statement as to long term trends in this regard.

You may not be aware, but the whole world does not revolve around Washington State. In fact, our wet June, one of the wettest on record in Eastern Washington, may actually indicate "Climate Change" which is the result of "Global Warming", which is occuring whether one believes it is caused by man, or if it is natural. That is an ominus indication when combined with what you see when you look over to the other side of the Rockies and look at the record high temperatures being recorded there.

Not sure donkjen said it clearly enough, the tax on gasoline is per gallon not per dollar, so when the price at the pump goes up, the tax the state and feds get does not go up, it remains in the same 37.5 cents per gallon. And when the prices go up we tend to drive less and use less gas, so the overall amount of taxes the state collects goes down when the price of gas goes up.

You do know that oil was cheap before Bush decided he needed to "free" Iraq, a lot cheaper than it is now. And, it is not those countries that are getting rich from the high price of oil, it is the oil companies. And you do know that the US is producing more oil and has done more drilling under Obama than under Bush. And yes, the number one export of the US this past year was refined oil products such as gasoline and diesel.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : High court upholds key part of Obama health law | National & World News | Seattle News, Weather, Spo

Not really, theoretically if they all get jobs and buy health insurance like they are supposed to, your insurance rates would go down. Now that being said we do know that the insurance companies won't lower rates to reflect more healthier people in the insurance pool, but instead will just keep the windfall profits and thank the Republicans for forcing the Democrates to put the mandate in the law to benefit the insurance companies, before they were against it. The Democrats were always against the mandate, especially the further left Democrats, and they instead wanted the public option that would have forced down the rates.

Actually the penalty put in place to insure that you buy health insurance is almost uneforceable. They take it out of your income tax, but then they are not allowed to do anything if you don't pay that. It is the weakest penalty enforcement that was possible. I was hoping they would throw out the whole mandate insurance thing and uphold the rest of it, but of course Justice Roberts was looking out for the insurance and healthcare industries, I wonder what stocks he holds? Just asking, I don't know which stocks he own.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : WSP: Man throws wife from car on I-90, attacks trooper | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather, S

Different police agencies handle the one to a car or two to a car differently. With the troopers the thought is that there is a back up not that far away and one is not needed too often as their main duty is traffic. With city police often two to a car because a lot of their calls (domestic violence, bar fights, etc.) require two officers most of the time. Of course that will vary with the shift being worked. And Chico is not right, the troopers are not "better trained" then " the locals". Different type of work is the main difference in staffing levels. Academy time is about the same for both, but with different emphasis.

Yes, I suppose you can do like Wal-Mart does, hire non-union illegal immigrants to do the cleaning, lock them in while they are working in violation of work place safety rules. Or we can treat people like people, pay people to do an honest day work and you may get honest people to do the work so you don't have to worry about the people you hire.

The article does say it will be against the private janitorial companies, I suspect like American Building Maintenance. And I ask you, who has keys to every door in a building? Yep, the janitors. So who do you want cleaning the area around your desk? Who is willing to work after everyone else goes home? For really poor pay for shift work? Who is willing to clean the pee off the men's room floor, get the cigarette butts out of the urinal and the gum, clean the toilets? Deal with the plugged toilets in the women's room from feminine products? Women seem to mess the rest rooms worse than men. How do I know? I worked my way through college as a janitor, belonged to that same union. Made me want to be a friend of the unions the rest of my life even when not working a union job. Yes they can find some scab workers, people desperate for any job, but they will not work for long or do a good job. The union will win this fight, especially if it is about medical benifits. No reason to work for "sh..t" wages doing "sh..t" work late at night if you can't afford to get sick.
