Big Government : Is Newt Gingrich About to Be Herman Cained?

My husband and I have been together for 30 years, married for 27. This is his 3rd and my 2nd. I would not want ugly conversations that we had with our exes, while our marriages were falling apart, to be used against us. Distortions would be easy with these types of volatile conversations. Motivation for these disclosures could be not wanting the current Mrs. Gingrich to be first lady. The lack of intellectual curiosity regarding the Cain women and these "revelations" is disappointing.

This just means that the powers that be don't want her as Speaker if they retake the house. She will never lose her seat. Obviously, they have been given the go ahead to damage her some.

Big Government : 'Crowdsource' This: Emails Expose #OccupyWallStreet Conspiracy to 'Destabalize' Global Markets, Gove

Local, state and federal governments are taking control of private property, water on private property and/or forbidding the use of private property by the owners. Fannie and Freddie own most of the mortgages in this country. If you don't think that private property is under attack, it is because you aren't looking.

Big Government : The More the Hippies Protest Wall Street, the Lower Obama's Numbers Get

Mr. Newman is just trying to explain to us how similar tea partiers are to the hackneyed protesters currently defecating on our city streets and in our public parks. Uh-huh, right. The financiers of this protest must think we are as stupid as their "useful idiots".

Wow, RoBo, miss your last anger management session? As a member of society, I have an interest in the protection of minors as well as concern for the future for all children. My style of parenting with regard to media (and most everything else) may not work for everyone as it requires much time thinking about, talking about and discussing values, morals, philosophy, and psychology with them from a young age. My children, from 18 - 26, are fully capable of making their own decisions and are capable of articulating their positions. Their political perspectives are libertarian/conservative in spite of their public school education. They would laugh at your unwarranted hostility, RoBo, and could objectively critique your remark and its' possible neurotic implications, but probably advise, "He's an idiot, Mom, and not worth the time."

I have mixed feelings about this. I have 4 wonderful kids who play games. 1-overall, anytime we have a question, erring on the side of freedom is good. 2-I don't buy into the violent games cause violence meme. 3-I do believe that government has an obligation to protect minors, but not usurp parental authority. 4-a little warning bell went off in my head, though, re: UN rights of the child. Maybe why SCOTUS statists went this way?

Big Journalism : Weinergate Is Like... Bristol Palin's Pregnancy

This is something like a "prisoner exchange" debate direct from DailyKos. If you read their recent posts, some of them want to push for a Weiner/Clarence Thomas exchange so this Weiner/Vitter deal is at least a little less insane. To be fair, there are DK kids who think that this exchange crap meme is stupid. I try to duck in there from time to time to try to understand their painfully convoluted thinking. I apologize in advance for the waste of comment space with the following - logical people know this. Bristol=not an elected official, Weiner=sitting congressman. Bristol=creation of a child, although before she and her family would have liked, through a natural human process, Weiner=weird, skeevy, compulsive, self-destructive, anti-social behavior appearing to require psychological help.

Big Journalism : Michele Bachman Gives Chris Matthews a History Lesson

Samuel Adams was a founding father and was anti-slavery. He turned his energy to the revolution and less to that cause as things came to a head. It reminds me of our present day fight for the lives of millions of murdered children. Most of the country recognizes that killing unborn children is morally reprehensible, but as a country, we allow it. We cannot fight for those lives if we lose our freedom to fight. I think that Sam faced that same problem and he was not alone. Two people who are regularly vilified, Washington and Jefferson, struggled with the economic/political reality of slavery into which they were born and their recognition that slavery was immoral. Very similar to the abortion issue. Soledad O'Brien likewise demonstrated her ignorance of the 3/5 clause last night on CNN.

Big Journalism : Whoopi and Behar Storm Off Set During O’Reilly Interview

Two more points that may be causing concern: 1. We know that Muslims have dispensation to lie to accomplish their goals (so that they may hide in plain sight). We fear that we may have little chance of identifying a radical before he/she attacks. 2. Dearborn, Michigan is a good example of the push for elevated rights for Muslims at the expense of Christians. Every time I hear someone say that Muslims in this country don't want Sharia, Dearborn pops into my head.

CSMonitor: USA : Glenn Beck applies \'liberation theology\' label to Obama\'s Christianity - CSMonitor.com

Excellent post reallycan. I did similar research during the 2008 primary after Rev. Wright became an issue. I find it hard to believe that The Christian Science Monitor and Dr. Attridge would not have access to the same resources that I utilized. Sadly, the only "political rhetoric" is coming from Dr. Attridge and this publication.

thedailycougar.com : 14th Amendment should remain as is

Are the thumbs down for the fact that I actually researched before I commented? Or that what I have to say is factual rather than an emotional knee-jerk reaction? Research Sen. Jacob Howard (he was the author of the 14th amendment) and Sen. Lyman Trumbull wrote about jurisdiction. Congress has subsequently passed laws with regard to individual tribes, and in 1924 the Indian Citizenship Act to include Native Americans within the complete jurisdiction of the US. Since we had to pass these laws to include Native Americans, do you really think that just running across the border and giving birth should confer citizenship to the child in question?

I think it is interesting when someone categorizes people as "angry old white males" and "brown hard-working people" or other similar segregationist rhetoric. I am white with many people contributing to my genetic makeup and citizenship including Native American. I have friends and relatives of a wide range of skin color hues, including some who have spent much time, energy and money to become citizens or come to this country legally. I don't think of them as my "brown, black, yellow, red or white" friends and relatives, and I wonder about the mentality of those who do.
